i plan to do a schooling show with my jumper end of month (she showed dressage when she was an eventer)–have not shown any dressage since then and am wondering where i can find the tests for Training and Level 1???i did buy a few years ago the tests online but they are dated 2003 tests–have Training and Level 1 changed any at all in the new tests??? Need to get these in a hurry --i cant seem to find the online site i got the ones from before–they were great–they wer on a CD and had printouts that showed your track around the arena…Sure would like to find that site again.

Go to USEF dot org, click “Breeds and Disciplines”, then “Dressage”, then “National Dressage”, scroll down a bit and look for the “Test Movements”. Clicky clicky, and whah lah

here are the current tests. They change every 4 years
It is easy enough to draw the movements yourself on paper. It might help your memmorise them. You can look for winnie widgets at the tack store, they are printout with diagram.
i use coloured pens and then dots and dashes to help remember each test
so canter green and running line blue is trot with broken long e line - - - –
red is walk -------- dashed line changes are x astrias same coloured pen as the pace
so if you had to walk at h say red askria or x then red ---- to say trot at b blue x then broken line- - - - then say canter at A green x contious line and free walk is black pen
halt and starts are donated by a large dot
hahaha if you write down in diferent cloured pens is easier to remeber i think
How come the tests are so hard to find on the USDF website??? Seriously, if I hadn’t been lead to them by Cothers in the past, I’d never have known the site had them. What is up with that? Not like they don’t charge us enough money as members!

I have to laugh at this sticky, because if I didn’t laugh, I would cry. The USDF website is so hard to find even the most basic information, like TESTS. We need instructions on a different site at how to find these things.
Look at X, stomp your foot 3 times, turn to the left, click on Y 4 times, hold your left hand up, and pray like he*l that the test will appear. <shesh> As if dressage is not enough of a challenge…

It has FEI and USDF tests, diagrams and even drawings of the arena so you even draw your own test to help memorize it. You have to subscribe, but it was well worth it to me! 
Does anyone know where the compulsory movements for freestyle are? Lord, you’d think it was classified, CIA eyes-only, restricted, read-then-die, information!!!

THank you, dd!!! One difference I did notice, however, is it cannot be any shorter than 4 minutes 30 seconds. In the USDF, it can be as short as you want, but cannot go OVER 5 minutes. Rule 8-A:
The time limit for all USDF freestyles is five minutes. There is no minimum time requirement.

if you are planning on showing at recognized shows and composing a freestyle…it would really make sense to become a member of usdf. You will then be able to receive the directory which has all the tests, freestyle requirements…rules, judging terms…award rules etc. It is a handy little book and I love the new square format!

yes canada does use the same tests as the US except for their intro tests are different
Okay, soooo, why are the intro tests the hardest to find? It’s almost like dressage is an exclusive sport with intentionally high barriers to entry or something… :lol:
My fiance is planning to go to his first schooling show in May, and he thinks now is the appropriate time to start memorizing the tests (which, you know, probably not a terrible idea…and so cute!). Trouble is, the Canadian site is the only one that has the intro tests, and you say they’re the only ones that are not the same? Kinda figures, I guess…
Anyone want to just post the intro tests? I can interpret/draw/coach as needed, I just need to know how they go!
