Dressage trainer in Chattanooga, TN area?

Hello!
I am moving along with my four Sport Morgans to the Chattanooga, TN area (Ooltewah, TN to be exact) in early October. I am an adult amateur dressage rider in need of a dressage trainer.

I joined the Central Tennessee Dressage Association last spring. Unfortunately, it seems their hotspot is the Nashville area and I would like to find something closer if possible.

I am close to North Georgia- I hope to find a trainer where I can trailer in for lessons- hopefully will be able to get my arena put in before the “winter mud” I hear so much about

Thanks for any and all recommendations!

I’m game. Someone explain to me what is happening in Chattanooga that so many people suddenly want dressage lessons there.

Here’s a VERY recent thread about someone else looking for a barn and instructor: http://www.chronofhorse.com/forum/showthread.php?t=364775

** I saw that thread and it sort of went off track so I thought I would try again!

It isn’t North GA but Knoxville (about an hour +/-) north of Ooltewah has Crossroads Dressage & Combined Training Society. You can check out their website cdcts.org or ask to join their facebook page.

They are bringing JJ Tate to Knoxville for a clinic in October and there are some local trainers in the area that are very good.

Not affiliated with CDCTS but someone brings Jim Koford to the Knoxville/Maryville area every month and he is the most bestest trainer ever! And another person brings Gigi Nutter in almost every month and she is also very good.

Dressage Trainer in the Chattanooga area.

I don’t know if you guys are still looking for a dressage trainer in the Chattanooga area but there is one. She is a nationally certified instructor who has taught people that have gone on to the Canadian 3 day team. She is very kind instructor focusing on the proper movement of the horse and the position of the rider. She has upper level horses and lower level and is available to travel or to have you trailer in. She is my trainer and she has taken me far in the dressage world.
Just send me a message and I will give her number to you.

Hi i am in the chattanooga area and currently board off east brainerd road. I was curious of who you are mentioning in this thread? I am always looking for more trainers to work with. And curious of where you are located??

I live in Chattanooga & I train. I am newer to dressage myself (former eventer/showjumper). I have been training with Mary Maguire Smith from IRide. I HIGHLY recommend her! Also, I really like Shannon Betts. Both are UPPER LEVEL dressage trainers.

We are also starting up an association here. I am not on here much, but feel free to message me. Chattanooga Valley Dressage & Eventing Association. Right now we meet the 3rd Tuesday of every month. It’s still in the very early phases.

I was wondering if you ever found an instructor in the area.

Tennessee Alabama Georgia Dressage & Eventing Association (we changed the name) is up & running. We had our first schooling CT at the end of March with an amazing turnout! There is actually a huge need in this area. Please check us out!

I have my own facility now convenient to the Hamilton Place area. I am accepting boarders & lesson students. You can haul in or ride one of my horses. I can also travel to you if it is fairly close to my farm.

We would love to have you as a part of the club! We meet the 3rd Thursday of every month right now. I am the secretary…you can contact me for info. Just know that I am not always on COTH.
