Has anyone done a trip with either Equitour or Unicorn Tours to Portugal for a week of dressage? Any thoughts on either destination? Quality of instruction? Quality of the horses?
I frequently both use and recommend Unicorn Trails (Unicorn Tours apparently offer riding in Scotland: I might give them a go!) as I have always found them helpful and knowledgeable. The company was founded by a Vet and staff visit the rides they promote. It is worth making a phone call to discuss what you want because they will make appropriate suggestions, often based on personal experience. I’ve had a couple of excellent weeks in Portugal. The horses and people are lovely and the climate very pleasant. Horsemanship is bone deep in the culture.
My experience of Equitours, an American company, is only indirect, meeting other riders who have booked through them. European prices are generally much cheaper for the same package.
I highly recommend Morgado Lusitano. Google the name and they offer various packages based on length of stay and accommodation. They’re about 20 min from Lisbon and excellent instructors/horses.
Second Morgado too. Lovely horses, excellent teachers, very convenient location.
Very timely! I’ve been looking at Epona for a week of dressage in Spain.
