Dressage Young Horse Program

Can you tell me more about the program? How is it run? How is a horse chosen? What is everyone’s opinion of the program? Any and all insight is greatly appreciated!!

I was looking at the 2022 training evaluation document and it said the horse must not be for sale? Does that mean the horse can’t currently be on the market? Does that mean that the horse can not be sold while in the program? I have a very talented young horse that I would aim towards the young horse program but she technically for sale ( but higher priced so won’t necessarily move quickly) . …

The Young Horse Program is still pretty new. You can see the current membership online - I believe there are only 7 riders, each with a few horses. The point is to identify future team horses/riders and provide them training/ competition coaching/ support along the way. They are looking for long-term partnerships for that reason.

You can still show in the young horse classes, qualify for Lamplight, etc. without being part of this program. I believe several of the horses on the current list weren’t added to the program until they placed at Lamplight - so I suspect show ring success it probably a good starting point, whether you end up applying or not.

ok, thank you for the clarification. I wanted to make sure I “read the fine print” before moving forward.
