Dressage!!!

Breaking Dawn is such a cool horse, and one that demonstrates just how positively Ashley Holzer and her horses relate. She can cruise around outside the arena on a very, very loose rein and the horses are happy and obedient.

A group I was with in January in Florida nicknames Breaking Dawn “Stretch”. If you haven’t seen him before, you’ll soon find out why.
Yes, I love watching her horses go. I’d like to see them do well, not just for themselves, but because Canada has had such a terrible run-in with Murphy these games.

Mouth inspection? Bit inspection? after competing.

Is that new or has it always been?

Not new. Gotta keep things legal;)

Bit Inspection. Not new, normal process

Thanks.

Patrick had issues with the ones. Too bad.

GB one and two! Looking very rosy for the Brits! Cant wait to see Valegro tomorrow.

And with that I’m off to work. Til tomorrow, all!

BBC; Mike Tucker and Judy ?

Judy Harvey. She’s a judge and grand prix rider (think she might have been a selector as well at some point).

Thank you, but they are young horses… keeping my fingers crossed that Hickstead is watching from above!!

I don’t think MST is AWFUL; I just don’t want to hear how "passage is like a slow-motion trot " or all the other basic info she probably is instructed to speak about. I’d like my Olympic commentary less intro -level, or nothing at all.

WHERE’S AXEL???!!
She is still in the mode of introducing the sport to general spectators–unfortunately hasn’t moved on to that of commenting for a knowledgeable audience, which is more likely to result from all of us heretofore broadcast-deprived equestrians tuning in on the livetream–I wonder if any other sports are experiencing the same thing? Perhaps many of them are simpler to ‘get?’ ie its a score, a time, etc?

She’s very articulate!

Note too, how the BBC has organized specialists from each discipline to offer comment, while NBC has given us ‘an equestrianne’ whom they’ve teamed up with someone who isn’t really horsey.

Thank you. Her commentary is excellent.

Someone upstairs opened the taps when the Cdn rider was doing his test, spectators running for cover, horse got spooked and Marcus excused himself. And then the sun came back!!! It’s fixed I tell you!!!

Sigh… What rotten luck. I hope it changes for our Jumping team but I am afraid Derly is going to spook…

Our tv coverage on OLN is excellent with a wonderful knowledgeable commentator, Cara Whitham… She knows what she is talking about.

I SO wish we had someone like Judy Harvey or Cara Whitham.
I get that MST is an Olympian, but not in dressage. I would rather have an experienced non-Olympian dressage rider as a commentator.

Glad I can at least see the live scoring,

Looking on the bright side:
We have the livestreaming where most can watch every ride. That said, my computer/connection is not great and it tends to freeze and run a bit jerky…
Then there was, for network USA TV decent coverage on MSNBC. Showed all the relevant rides. While MST may annoy more knowledgeable viewers, the rides were shown and you can ignore or mute the commentary.
I feel like I have much more access to Olympic equestrian events than ever before!
Next NBC has to find a way for those w/o the proper NBC channels or calbe to view - perhaps paying for a package. And it would be nice if they could have the scores on the screen as they come up!

I did a couple of clinics with Ashley many moons ago-shes a very positive trainer.

We have to wait till tomorrow to see her though.
oops, I didn’t notice that there are two days of rides. D’oh. (What? I have a PhD? Really???)

It is a treat to be able to listen to someone like Cara Whitham who could just as easily be sitting there judging the event.

Poor David Marcus, he must be gutted. This has really been our Tough Luck Games so far…
