Dressage!!!

David Marcus is a true horseman, after his ride he says to the Canadian coach “That’s horses”. A quote I’m sure all of us equestrians can relate to one ride or another.
And you know how crushed he must be. 4 years of work. For that moment.

Class act, David.

“If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;”

Classy. I can’t watch live this year, but one of my strong memories from 2008 when I was watching live is the man on the gray (Andalusian?) that was spooking and rearing. He decided to WD, and he rode by the judge at C and gave the most elegant salute, hats off as the gents do, and left the ring. I’m sure he was crushed, but he wasn’t showing it and didn’t look mad at the horse. Handled it very gracefully. And I thought later how ironic it was that he, having a disaster meltdown of a test, still managed a nice salute and acknowledgement of the judge as he left, while Anky forgot to salute after her freestyle.

Well jeez, now I see how the NBC online is a few minutes late. How do they manage to do this so badly?

OLN’s coverage is great here in Canada. It’s wonderful to actually see all the horse events in full on tv for once!! The commentators are Cara Whitham and ??? Nancy Wetmore???

I love Morgan Mestres Barbancon’s shad! Refreshing to see something other than black and navy!

The commercials, which, while annoying, finance the live streaming.

she’s riding anky’s painted black, bought him in 2010.

Canadians

big oops! for David Marcus - he looked like he could have had better luck out on Cross the day before

I’ve the choice of Melanie Smith and hoofbeats, curbchains, and breathing. I’ll take the curbchains.
Silence is golden.

Yes, you are absolutely correct. (Although I’m actually watching CTV’s World Feed LOL.)

Absolutely. Although while watching eventing show jumping all I could hear was a baby screaming (albeit in the distance)… I think I might have preferred Melanie ST to that. I think…

Wonderful test by Morgan and Painted Black!

BBC is Judy… Don’t know the last name and a gentleman.
Fine job, not annoying.

Amen! I love hearing the horses and hoofbeats.

Kid did a fine job on painted black. Louisa, a little heavy, missed the ones.

Me too! Although I have Axel Steiner stuck in my head.

I think for karma’s sake Breaking Dawn needs to put in the tests of his life and score above an 80 all week. And then your show jumpers need to kick serious butt.
Breaking Dawn is such a cool horse, and one that demonstrates just how positively Ashley Holzer and her horses relate. She can cruise around outside the arena on a very, very loose rein and the horses are happy and obedient.

A group I was with in January in Florida nicknames Breaking Dawn “Stretch”. If you haven’t seen him before, you’ll soon find out why.

I don’t think MST is AWFUL; I just don’t want to hear how "passage is like a slow-motion trot " or all the other basic info she probably is instructed to speak about. I’d like my Olympic commentary less intro -level, or nothing at all.

WHERE’S AXEL???!!

Mistral Hojris - I love this horse.

I did a couple of clinics with Ashley many moons ago-shes a very positive trainer.

We have to wait till tomorrow to see her though.
