Driving lessons in northern California?

I’d like to find a good instructor in northern California who I can take some beginning driving lessons with. Having my left knee replaced end of November and not sure if I want to go back to riding once I’m healed or try something new, have always been interested in driving just never had the opportunity to try it.

I’m located about 3 hours north of San Francisco and 3 hours west of Sacramento but would be willing to travel an hour or two if need be.

Thanks!

Try the NCDC, the driving club for that area. I know Merrie Lee Morgan is in or near Williams.

Sorry I am not familiar with California geography, but go to www.equestrianlife.com/freelesson to see if any trainers near you are participating in the free riding or driving lesson program with their Saddlebreds and Hackneys. Also, go to www.saddlebred.com and click on Stable Search under the ASHA tab on the red menu bar. Most Saddlebred stables that give lessons give both riding and driving lessons.

Merrie Morgan is wonderful! There is the Clay Station Horse Park in Wilton as well.

http://www.acornnmr.com/ncdc/ That is the Northern CA Driving Club website.

You could also contact Céline at Carriage Driving Essentials, she is a great resource and can put you in contact with some instructors. http://carriagedrivingessentials.com/

Thank you for all the great recommendations, have seen video of Merrie Morgan driving and she looks wonderful, I think she is about 2 hours east of me so that’s not too far. Bookmarked the sites and will be doing more research, a new adventure and I’m sure I’ll have many questions!

There is a Pleasure Show and an HDT at the Clay Station Horse Park in Wilton in October. You should come! I am tentatively planning on going to the HDT at the end of October.
