Duck with a broken toe??? Help!

My poor little baby has a broken toe. She is a 10week old pekin. She was fine this am but completely lame this evening. No idea what happened to her. Her foot seems fine, but her inside toe on the one foot is curled under itself and she is almost non weight bearing on it. Being a weekend and that she is a duck, I’m not thinking a trip to the vet is going to happen. I don’t even know anyone in this area that would treat a duck.

She’ll be coming inside and I’m figuring out now a split of some sort to put on her,

Anyone have any ideas on what to do to help her??

Picture?

I know absolutely nothing about ducks.

But I just found these (FWIW; 2nd one is kinda grim)–

There are more sites. Google duck broken toe.

Hope there’s something helpful there somewhere!

Thanks all! I did lots of research last night during it all but figured calling on the COTH wisdom never hurts a panic situation!

Little Paulina is doing well today. She is splinted and getting around 80% better with that on. I brought her inside with one of her friends last night, but i cannot have ducks in the house long term, and they refused my homemade diaper set up I came up with lol. So for now they are segregated to their own outdoor pen with a dog igloo in it while the foot is splinted, we shall see how long this lasts! They are quite upset with me about their detention pen and are not afraid to voice their objections.

I tried to take photos last night but it does not photograph well at all for some reason. Looks almost normal in photos but mush in person. Thank god for my plethora of elasticon… shes wearing quite an expensive duck boot at the moment with all that!

I see that you’re in Lexington, I do know a vet that would likely help in Louisville if it comes to that. Companion Animal Hospital - she’s the best and I know has worked on chickens and many other birds. PM if you want her info.

That would be lovely! I am definitely not opposed to taking my duck to the vet. Haha I’m not sure many people would agree with me on that one but all 12 of these guys are strictly pets so I’m sure I’ll be needing a duck vet eventually! I just meant a Saturday night er vet trip was out of the option for her and I have zero clue who on Lexington would see a duck! The best exotics vet in town I will NEVER use again after the treatment I had there when I lost my Flemish giant a month ago. I’m thankfully very good friends with my horse vet and she tries her best to help and appreciates my love for my duckies as she also is fond of them, but they didn’t spend any time learning about ducks in vet school

That’s my crew  the ducks anyhow! Please excuse the mess, I was making some adjustments to the roosting bars in the chicken coop today so there’s scrap everywhere still!

Here’s her website - she is an amazing vet! She is on the east side of Louisville so wouldn’t be a terrible drive for you or she may be able to refer you to someone in Lex. Good luck!
