My LabX was about that size @ 8wks.
Vet we took him to for puppy shots asked if he was part Great Dane.
He’d had to do a caesarean on a Dane who delivered 13 pups :open_mouth:
Our boy ended up at 90# :smirk:

Oh my golden fluffiness! Congratulations! Let me see if I can find Mom’s dog when they got him. He was about 8 weeks and is now about 75lbs at 3yo.

Yay! He is precious and yes, that’s a big puppy. Your house is going to be joyous with puppy love for a while. Goldens are sooo sweet.

Ducky is a female, she is our fourth Golden that we have had since about 1986.

All of our prior Goldens have been females (Molly was the first, them Bailey and Sucha who just turned 14, she still is a working dog as she headed to a grade school today for a introduction to fourth grade pets class )

Congrats! Ducky is adorable.

She is big! Mine’s a mix, but here she is at 8 weeks (wheelbarrow for scale). She’s currently 10 months, 67lbs and growing.

She’s huge! I would have guessed 12 weeks. My childhood dog was a golden. The five dogs I’ve had as an adult have all been mutts, but always leaning towards those lab/retriever traits. I’ve been considering a purebred for my next (and final?) dog, either a lab or golden. It probably won’t happen for 8-10 years, though, so who knows. I’ve always had two dogs at a time but might stick with one dog when my current older dog goes.

HOLY CHUNKAMONK!

That’s a big baby! Are you sure she is only 8 weeks old?

the breeder would not release pup until she was eight weeks old,

wife has been in the area at our son’s farm for a week, she took Daggry to his adoptive family (which ran to with tail wagging) She visited last Friday to make sure that Ducky and her were a match (breeder was about two hours away from son’s farm)

She is not coming back until next week

Another reason for the trip was to see the new office building our son had built for his and his wife’s businesses. He moved his business from Manhattan to the farm when COVID pretty much closed NYC.

And she is bring a Polaris ranger son had, he needed one that has an enclosed heated/AC cab so he gave his older ranger to wife so she could use it feeding/caring for the goats

our kids bought Ducky for my wife who does enjoy working dogs in Dog Scouts which is similar to the Girl or Boy Scout programs in that the dog earns badges for learned tasks.

Phoenix, our Great Pyrenees, that was acquired to watch for coyotes is not what one could call sociable and does not do well with others who she does not include as Hers

Last year our German Shepherd Dog Sage died from age related issues, she was 13 nearing 14. Sage had been wife’s Dog Scout partner for all of Sage’s life. Sage and wife were trained in scent work by a FEMA dog trainer (one of our horses was watching them work and also learned to Find the Target)

So Ducky will become a Dog Scout for sure, and she has Sucha’s work to carry on

yes verified Ducky is eight weeks old and weighs… just under 18 pounds :astonished: which is about twice the weight of our other Goldens at the same age
