Duct tape twitch

Just saw this on Facebook. Anyone ever try it?

A friend did that for a restless horse for farrier and it worked

I wanna do it to my Hackney Pony just 'cause I can

Wish I’d known about it before pasteworming him this morning - D’OH!

Just tried it the other day! My horse lets me clip one ear with no fuss, but the other ear is a different story, tried the duct tape twitch and he was busy trying to bite it long enough for me to clip the bad ear.

My friend then tried it on her mare to clip her ears but she kept bobbing her head trying to get the tape, so it didn’t work for her. Guess it depends how your horse will react to the tape, my horse kept his head still and just tried to get it with his lip, but her mare threw her head all over the place.

I think it would be great for horses who are bad for the farrier or for shots though! Either way, it is hilarious to watch

I was wondering about it for clipping ears. My horse is very lippy, but he can be pretty spooky. He hates his ears messed with, so I was going to try it… Can’t hurt to try!

I was just going to come on here and post something asking about this because I saw yet another FB post.

Seriously cool. I can’t wait to get another horse so I can try it.

Do you think they’d let me go in the show ring with a piece of duct tape on my horse’s nose?? LOL

I really don’t understand how this would work…except from the fact that it might distract the horse a little, there is no way it acts like a twitch (releasing endorphin).

It might just be a mental thing, like the (possibly damp? I don’t remember) towel holding the nose that TTouch uses. Could be something about pressure/weight on that area that causes a horse to relax.

Any feedback about using it a second time? Does the horse resent having it taken off? I might be able to get duct tape on my OTTB once, but not likely a second time,.

if you de-sticky the tape a bit before you stick it on it won’t hurt when it comes off. Stick it on your jeans, pull off… repeat

I am going to try it on my boy when the chiro comes out to adjust him. That is always entertaining seeing him play catch me.

My vet and dentist had both seen this on Facebook. My young horse was a bit naughty for his vaccinations so we tried it before his sedation. He pretty much ignored it. I tried in on my other horse and he snorted and went bug-eyed, so I had to yank it off before he had a melt down. So I am 0/2.

this video shows the best way to use it.
