Duett Harmony

I am looking at saddles and this one seems to have everything I like! I am going to send tracings in to the fitter and make sure they also believe it will work before I buy anything.

After searching here and googling it I haven’t been able to find any reviews on what people think about it or any used ones for sale. I know that Duett saddles in general are well liked but I wondered if anyone had any experience with this particular model (good or bad). TIA.

NO experience with a certain model of Duett, but the two (different models) that have crossed through my shop for repairs (both needed billet replacement) have been unimpressive to me as to quality of leathers and sewing… I am admittedly fussy about leather and sewing quality!
For a wide-body horse shape (what most Duett buyers seem to be looking for?) I much prefer the Lovatt & Ricketts saddles - uniformly excellent quality and they ride very well.

You and I might have talked already but this is a relatively new model compared to the others so there might not be a lot around. Duett saddles in general are great saddles for wide or round horses at a lower price point. It’s hard to compare Duett saddles with cushier and pricier higher end hoop trees due to leather quality and so on. Yet, they do work well with particular conformations.

I had a Duett, and found that the quality was pretty similar to Collegiate, and other middle of the road leather saddles. My biggest dislike of the saddle is that the dye does leech if your horse sweats through the saddle pad, or you sweat through your breeches, so be prepared for that. Other than that, it was a God send for my round and hard to fit mare at a price that I could actually afford.

Unimpressed by the quality compared to… high end saddles? Unfortunately I’m not in the budget for anything super nice or I would definitely go that route.

Jay - Yes I did talk to you about it.

Draftmare - Does the dye bleed when it is new or all the time? I’m not sure if it is with all of the saddles or just some?

I have a Duett jumping saddle for my old QH and now my mustang. I’ve had it for years and it has held up well. Agree about the leather quality. It is not great leather, doesn’t supple up very well, and is hard (on the flaps - seat is better).

When I was shopping for a dressage saddle for my mustang, I did try a Duett (sorry, can’t remember which one) and liked it and almost got one but I decided on my Frank Baines Capriole instead and love it. Leather is beautiful, saddle is comfortable and puts me in just the right position, has the type of seat I like (more open).

I have a Duett Fidelio used on a Friesian. I got it off eBay and it was about 2 years old. I’ve had it almost a year and it STILL bleeds off onto my saddle pads, but will mostly come out in the wash. Some of the stitching has come undone a little under the seat, but otherwise its a decent saddle for the price. The Fidelio is supposed to have a narrower twist than some of their other saddles too. Fits my Friesian really well. My trainer rides in $3-4K saddles and she thought it was really comfortable. I think its a decent saddle for the price point.
