So because I want to learn, what IS the way to fix the problem? You said you were correctly taught and know how to do it. Please tell.
Well, its a mare so if she is unrideable you can breed her. Yes, I’m being sarcastic, but I know of mares who have become broodmares for similar reasons (dangerous or semi-dangerous to ride or handle).
If it’s only riding there’s no reason that a mare can’t be a fabulous recip mare and make a few genetically unrelated babies while living a pampered life. (I know, off topic)

I don’t know who you were addressing, but to me, the mare looks like she may be weak in her sacroliliac, and so the canter is painful. I’d begin by addressing that, with lots of stretching and bending, first at the walk. Not quick fix.
But yes, forward with a loose rein would have been good.
The backstory on the horse is interesting.
When I first saw the CDJ video, two things struck me. First CDJ wasn’t wearing boots, which suggest she had no intention of getting in the horse. Which is fine of course (self preservation is a good thing!), but perhaps dealing with this horse needed quicker timing and a braver rider. Second, why the double bridle if the issue was a severely stuck horse?
The fb vid shows her in a snaffle still showing the same tendency, but a stuck horse with a rearing history in a double is just asking for it IMO. I would also submit that a few seconds of video are never really sufficient to understand what’s going on with a horse, veterinary or otherwise.
I wonder if this horse is a good jumper? Maybe she just needs a new job. Nothing wrong with that.
Glad I am not related to that lady with the same last name! She sounds pretty fishy on a lot of levels.
Read the article. looks like there was definitely some vindictiveness going on there. And I’m gobsmacked by some of the other details in the article.
It sounds like we agree that there is nothing one could do to fix this horse in one session.
Hence the whipping and the absence of training.
I dont think she is un-rideable. Now she has gone on to another rider she is doing OK in national competitions in the UK and has had several wins this season in Advanced Medium
Her own brand is called LuxeofLondon. It does actually exist, mostly sold direct online and not through retailers. Depending who you ask, its either OK, or falls to bits in a short time
Completely agree all sham trainers should be outed. But do we have to wait to make a start till the names of all of them have been gathered? Dickinson drew attention to herself so seems a good place to start, especially as she is doing more business in the US.
A plagiarist also, it appears. Folks who pay thousands to attend her seminars get an instructional manual. More fool them - according to those who have seen it, you can read pretty well read all of it online elsewhere, mostly cut and pasted from Dressage Today and Practical Horseman. One example has just appeared on this Australian page. It shows an original anecdote of Beth Baumert and then the same thing, passed off, word for word, as Alicia Dickinson’s own anecdote on her manual.

More news …
at last weekend’s Fort Lauderdale convention, some people were offered chance to stay on for 2 more days at $1000 a day with promise of 20 mins riding a “FEI schoolmaster.” Then it was announced it was not safe so instead they practised on inflatable horses in the pool. I truly do not understand who hands out this sort of money for any kind of learning weekend, never mind one with a total nobody. www.facebook.com/roger.east.7/posts/pfbid0e4ZrnLjBp53WvaPAfePnjbW5zYgrrc111PScD6ZqbZUYG9eVc4w1Lr5ZffajDvpSl

Please tell me this is a joke…
I just can’t
The whole scenario is a joke. But in terms of accuracy, yes, this is what happened. It seems likely that as the convention in Fort Lauderdale was the result of a fairly late venue change, she did not have time to organise an actual arena experience. The other joke is that she was not being chased by paparazzi. The UK media lost interest in Dickinson after a few days so are highly unlikely to have hired any photographers in the USA to stalk her.
I’d love to see a video of the riders faces I wonder if trying to stay on Cecil the Seamonster was akin to spraying Showsheen on your horse and then trying to ride bareback.
This just gets better and better. Or maybe worse and worse.
When I brought my mare back to work after months off (leg fracture) it took my trainer and I several weeks before we introduced canter, and even then no more than 30 second increments and slowly built up - and when she kicked out at the canter it was an indication to us that 1) we were right, she needed her SI injected and 2) WE, the humans, weren’t doing something right (she needed help balancing laterally)
I can’t imagine galloping an out-of-work horse around like that for 5 minutes, nevermind 30, especially with that clear of “problem signs”
This is also abuse, no doubt. That horse was saying every which way it could that he was tired and DONE.
