Dumped Dog Please Reassure Me We Are Doing The Right Thing. EMBARK RESULTS ARE BACK!

He’s an endless source of amusement. I really like
how he entertains himself. He throws himself toys. Catches them. Tosses over and over again. Whoever said far upthread that these found dogs need 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months to really gauge their fit was spot on. I think it took about 6 months for him to reveal who he was all along.

Go Tiger!!!
What a great doggy you are.
Any pup that can amuse themselves like this is a winner, in my book.
thanks for the great update.

I was the one that said that . When it was the advice the shelter I volunteered at gave everyone that got a dog from them.

Despite his long nose, my favorite pit bull (and favorite dog, for that matter) has the same goofy personality and penchant for being on his back with his belly up. So that tracks. I love him so much I tried to get my girlfriend to let me take him back to the East Coast from Los Angeles when I met him. She said “hard no” - she and her partner were too enamored. He was also a ditch dog, kind of. He was found chained up when he was rescued.

I immediately thought of him when I discovered this thread and your descriptions, photos, and videos. My fave pit isn’t brindle, he is blue and white, and is more classically pittie in appearance, but he is every bit as goofy and loving and wants very much to be a good boy.

Poor boy! What a testament to the GOOD in him that he is so willing to please that he is willing to take a beating. Breaks my heart.

Am impressed he is this good with horses and cats! What a good boy!

It’s a doggy slip n’ slide!

Sorry for missing this thread earlier, but thank you for doing so well by him! It’s so sad that so many of these dogs don’t get a fighting chance because of their breed’s reputation. You got an exceptionally good one… hopefully he can be an ambassador for his breed!

Ohhhh thank you so much for your words. I was reticent about a bully. I admit. And he certainly in the beginning was a handful. It took time. And in hindsight I realized any misbehavior stemmed from a really terrible start in life. He has a permanent limp. Because he has a completely fused elbow. Either from a traumatic accident or what my vet believes was someone grabbing an unruly poorly socialized dog and wrenching it out. As he backed away. His go to move in the early days. Then leaving to heal without care.

He was distrustful. Not house broken. Ignorant to cats or horses. Intrusive with other dogs. But he was so eager. And hopeful.

Even at his hardest moments he was never mean. Simply trying to save himself from his past experiences. Waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I swear I’m not anthropomorphizing. That is my gut
So I let him reveal himself. And made him believe. That I wouldn’t hurt him. I gave him grace when he wasn’t perfect. And he shined.

Bought him a baby pool today. Since he loves water so much. He really enjoyed it. Shoves his snout past his eyeballs and blows bubbles. But he just cannot resist the shavings pile slip and slide. So he abandoned the Walmart baby pool and spent the day sliding down on his belly. So proud of himself. I think he finally believes he’s home.

Thank you for everyone’s kind thoughtful posts and comments. I sincerely appreciate every single one.

This was beautiful and brought tears to my eyes. It is so satisfying when you build that type of trust with an animal. I am so happy for him that you gave him the time and attention he needed to get there .

He looks so happy. Well done you!

My Great Dane drank water that way. He immersed his nose in the water up to his eyeballs and drank. He blew bubbles too. I was impressed by his ability to hold his breath while his nose and mouth were completely submersed.

Exactly! I saw him dunk his head the first time and thought oh nooo this isn’t going to end well. Then I saw all the exhalation of bubbles. It’s Tigers go to move. Such a refreshing difference from my other dogs that think walking on wet grass is akin to prancing across lava and that baths are a medieval form of dog torture.

His old pooled water was getting quite gross so I hung the hose over the edge to flush it out and give him somewhere to play that wasn’t full off pollen and algae. He loved it. Hopefully this works. It’s kinda long. He never stops.

What a good boy!! Someone absolutely needs to buy him a pool with a waterslide

At the 3:30 mark where he’s playing with the water coming out of those… this reminds me of my old gal…She would submerse her entire nose and mouth to blow bubbles in the water. She had a paddling pool that she loved and would swim in the river any time she had the chance.

Love the water babies.
