Dupont State Forest: riding there?

Anyone ridden there? we’re considering another NC trip this Fall and I’m interested in this and the surrounding areas. Will need a cabin with horse accommodations : I don’t want to use my LQ then tear it down each day to haul in to ride.

We’ve ridden GSMNP from the Bryson City side at Deep Creek, and I’m interested in maybe going to Dupont instead.

Thanks in advance for any information.

Love DuPont! Of course, it is practically my back yard

You’ll want to be prepared for rocky terrain and gravel roads - there is no avoiding them!

You will be able to ride to a lot of the locations where they shot the Hunger Games movies.

Shoal Creek Farm offers overnight stabling and they have a cabin for rent less than a mile from the stables. Added benefit is you can ride right into the forest from the property.

Fall is busy around here, so make sure to reserve early!

Make sure you plan on having some down time to explore the city of Brevard - such a cute town.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Olivia at Shoal Creek is very nice, I use to board there, DuPont does have alot of rocks but is nice and they have pickets set up to tie at so you can get a closer look at the waterfalls

you also may want to look into depending on how long you will make your trip to doing a day trip to Biltmore, they also have nice maintained trails
