Dusty bridles in barn - cover that's easier than zipped bag?

Our boarding barn tack room is very dusty and open plan - no lockers. Bridles go on hooks and get very dusty. Anyone seen a quick dust cover that’s not zippered/for travel? I could throw a towel over the bridles but it looks scruffy and doesn’t work that well.

A pillow case works. Get fancy and sew it in half length wise, fix a draw string bottom and a small coat hanger at the top.

I use a towel. Install a cup hook just above the bridle’s hanger, and hang a dry towel so that it covers the bridle.

If you board in a busy facility, choose a loud color towel. For me, the thin cheap bath size towels work well. Never use a wet/damp towel, that invites mildew

Ask BO’s permission.

Super cheap, easy, and works great: buy a couple clear plastic shower curtain liners; then cut off the bottoms so you have about 36" long liners.

Staple them to the wall above the bridle racks and they’ll hang down over the bridles and racks.

The shower curtain drapes are clear so you can easily see where every bridle is hanging, and the reinforced top usually is thick enough not to tear out around the staples (from a heavy duty stapler.).

just reach under the drape to grab whatever bridle you’re after.

When they get really dusty, or tear, just replace them. It’ll cost you less than $10 for an entire stall wall’s worth of clear, dust free covers, and will take less than ten minutes to install.

or make a cover akin to a giant oblong shower cap, a bit of elastic at either end , in the curves, just slip over

I’d try a drawstring bag/backpack like this
Just slip on from below and cinch it at the top

I’ll second the pillow cases. I’ve used them for bridle bags for years now. They’re cheap and washable, and they absorb excess moisture well if your tack room gets damp.

My friend makes custom bridle bags, similar to the pillow case suggestion only in cute patterns and colors. They work really well. My barn had swallows that shit on everything

Like this idea!

I know you said you didn’t want a zippered bridle bag, but I have the Noble Outfitter’s bridle bag and would recommend it… it has a handle at the top that easily fits over a standard bridle hook, and while it zips, it sort of drops down so that you can easily access the bag and clip your bridle into the bag. Sort of just drop the bridle into the bag and attach at top and then re zip. Not as much of a struggle as the usual bridle bags… its not super expensive and they are really nice looking. Plus when you are ready to go to a show you are all set.TE009704
Plus there is plenty of room to toss your glove in the bottom of the bag, or in the pocket on the front. its a bit bulkier than most bridle bags, but its also sort of shaped, so its much easier to access and put your bridle away.
