Dutch Harness Horse CROSS temperment update

Hawk, I totally hear you on the dangerous horse thing. there is not a horse on the planet worth one hair on a person’s head. We had an ASB mare that was the first mare out of one of our broodies. She got really weird and dominant once she hit breeding age. She was put down as a four year old due to a major hock injury we could never rehab. Secretly, I was kind of relieved as she was mean in the pasture, not interested in people’s affection of respected them and she had developed the habit of flipping over in harness and under saddle due to the pain from her injury. But I think even without her two year battle to overcome her injury, she would have always been a very hard mare to handle. One you never turned your back on. She really thought she was the center of the universe and we were her servants. I could project why she was like this but until they learn to talk, it can only be speculation!

FYI, the farm has a second mare from the embryo batch that has them all so bamboozled, she’s been boarded out at their farrier’s farm for two years! haven’t seen her but know that she may be my next project from them. We’ll see if Tootsie has prepared me for her sister!
