Dutch harness horse drama. Update major mare/ foal neglect Nov 2023 post 1782 Update Kate Shearer responds post 1930 Nov 25/23

Oh, you would be surprised… Post? No, most likely not. Read? Uh huh. Hear about it from someone else? Oh hellz yes. More people than you would imagine, apparently. Honestly, have you not MET the internets? I mean half the damn world lost its mind over Andrew Tate’s pizza box, and the horse world has always been the tiniest place ever, so you do the math.

Yet you keep digging like there’s no downside, although I genuinely wonder what you think the upside is? Have you asked yourself how this will possibly improve your business? I don’t see an upside, but hey, maybe there’s some angle I’m not thinking of…

I can see why you are happy to believe that none of the people who buy your in utero foals come here.

You are not doing yourself any favors by the way you are presenting yourself and your lack of knowledge as a breeder.

Also, people/potential customers searching for your name on Google are almost certainly going to see this thread at the top of the results. Especially since you keep wanting us to use your real name by putting it in your posts.

Just ask the Maestro or the Krazy K Klan how that’s working for them. After all, the internet is forever.

Hardly anyone is on coth anymore. It’s become something of the past. But sure I’m ok with anyone that reads this.

That’s ok. I don’t know a single person in real life who has created a coth discussion post. Not a single person so maybe I’m just not in the right cicrcles as the coth forum subscribers are

That’s not what I meant. The Google search algorithm likes these threads for all the keywords so searches on words mentioned here tend to be part of links that end up at the top of the results list.

It doesn’t have anything to do with who starts threads. You can test this out with a simple Google search on your name right now.

My post was just a comment that anyone Googling your name is able to open the link to this thread and read it—no account needed.

   Now THAT is a naive post.

“Hardly anyone.” Right. But let’s pretend for a moment that it’s true. Why you are so upset then about what is said here is a mystery.

Nearly 11,000 views on this thread alone. Of course, many are repeats (I am one), but that’s a lot of eyeballs, nonetheless.

Here’s the thing. Somebody created a post that suggested you weren’t honest in your business dealings and people might want to do their research about bloodlines and registries before dealing with you.

All the people (including me) who had never heard of you now have our interest piqued and are wondering whether there’s any truth to this, especially when others reply to say you are difficult to deal with or BSC.

Had you replied once, with simple factual information in response to the original question, then walked away, the thread would have been about 10 posts long and would have been forgotten by thr next day.

But instead you show up guns a-blazin’ with multiple responses that turn the thread into a train wreck in which more and more unflattering accusations get thrown out there. More and more people jump in, and you keep responding to all of them. As the thread grows and drags on, more and more people are reading it, though not commenting, because everyone loves a good train wreck around here.
And your manner of responding does nothing to repair your professional image. Quite the opposite - you’ve presented a persona here that made a number of people comment they would avoid doing business with you.

So now hundreds of people - many of whom are very well connected in the dressage world - know your name and have an unflattering opinion of you and your business. Not only will they avoid doing business with you, but when others ask for their advice / opinion about buying or breeding from your program, you won’t be recommended. When random strangers try to research your program by googling your name, this thread will show up and they may form an unflattering impression of you from your posts.

I know you feel like you’re being attacked and it’s tempting to answer each and every comment, but sometimes the smart thing is to say nothing at all. You are not doing yourself any favours here at all.

This is such a truthful post that can be applied to any poster on any thread on any forum.

I’m not in the dressage world though. And I’m ok with the eyeballs on things.

A journalist friend of mine likes to say, “the internet lasts forever, folks.” Whatever your put out there is out there for good. No take-backsies. Have a happy new year, everyone. May your horses be sound, your mares put babies on the ground, and your inside leg put your horse in your outside rein.

I too would be more willing to be open about my identity, modest as it is, if there weren’t some periodic very disruptive posters moving through this space. At a minimum, Nick Peronace, Susan Wacowich at Dressage Hub, and Lauren Kanarek have all doxed people, used social media to harass people, and been aggressive in person. Nobody wants their trainer being called up by some nutcase stranger or their employer being harassed.

As far as who reads this or who heard about it? I have no idea. But people can be reading things online and not talking about them. I rarely mention COTH to people.

I have no dog in this fight, but yeah, this now goes further than COTH…

If you are ok with a gender specific slur, no time for you. And the mods should step in this.
