I was never a Dutrow fan but if this is true it is unconscionable. Hope they have good insurance because I smell a giant lawsuit.

Glad to see someone can make a new post.
I have tried to make two separate new posts & kept getting booted off 🤷🏻*♀️ðŸ˜Ĺ
Anyhow… it will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
 Speechless.
I posted it this afternoon but it never showed up so I posted It again. Weird.
There have been rumblings of this for some time now and those rumblings continue to get louder with more and more high profile names willing to stick their neck out for him.
They took their time, didn’t they?
I don’t know what has made people more inclined to speak out on the issue lately v. at the time of the ban.
Sad yes, that many knew/suspected and either didn’t speak up or were ignored.
I would agree with Laurierace on not being a Dutrow fan but like him or not, he should have been treated fairly without alleged planting of evidence or excess penalties for the charges.

another article. This is an absolute disgrace
That’s the article I saw.
But one of the most curious things about the situation is who doesn’t speak out in his defense. Family, former assistants, etc. I don’t know if they’re just trying to keep their distance so they can earn a living, or if they have other reasons for remaining tight-lipped. Both situations seem equally plausible to me.
The people who do speak out for him include vets, trainers on other circuits, etc. People with nothing to lose, or even with direct monetary gain from him being in business.
I knew Joel when he came to Alabama when we got horse racing in B’ham — he’s all about Joel.
Just a reminder here, there are two Dutrows. Tony was ( maybe still is) well respected by those who pick them directly off the track and restart into other careers. Rick not so much and when that filters into other disciplines who buy the restated horses and are specifically told Tony, not Rick, you have to wonder. That’s going back many years before the suspension.
Does look like he was framed in this particular situation but always got the impression the issues went deeper then drugging horses and were other questionable actions and accusations. . Big money involved in racing and the massive gambling revenues.
Sounds like the investigation was conducted by the Keystone Cops and if it gets tossed, you betcha he’ll sue and profit greatly.
Here’s the petition that’s been going around for some years now (or at least I think it’s the same one):
I didn’t go through recent signers, but a couple years ago some names I would expect to see were notably absent. Which may be completely meaningless, or may be noteworthy.
Being that a track can rule anyone off their grounds for any or no reason ie Hollendorfer they could have just taken his stalls away and sent him on his merry way.
I’m not sure having the likes of Ernie Paragallo in his corner does anything to bolster R. Dutrow’s reputation. I’d call him (Paragallo) a scumbag, but a scumbag that functions as advertised actually has some integrity.
Does anyone know why Dutrow was selected to plant evidence that would ruin his career? Who had the axe to grind and what was it?
Assuming that the allegations are indeed true that evidence was manipulated to “frame” RD, it’s not surprising that there would be individuals who wanted him out. He’s a big personality with a tendency to run his mouth. He rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, especially in a sport where the norm is to be tight-lipped to a fault.
That also made him a bit of a liability for NYRA, as he’d stick his foot in his mouth repeatedly talking about perfectly legal practices that “look bad” out of context and no one actually talks about. NYRA likes to maintain an image that they run a clean(er) game with strict(er) standards; when one of your leading trainers is blathering on about his perfectly legal use of pharmaceuticals to benefit the horses, it creates a bit of a conundrum.
