E Z Ride stirrups or???

New horse came with a M & W saddle with very heavy wooden stirrups and tapaderos…makes the saddle just too heavy.

Found the EZ Ride stirrups online…also did a search for stirrups on this site since I know the topic has been discussed before. I didn’t seem to find the info though, so sorry if this is a repeat.

I prefer the leather covered ones. Anyone else ride with these?

Other suggestions? Used for long trail rides and LD rides for now on a TWH that is a rocket and can spin on a dime. Should I also get the baskets? Very safety conscious.

Anyone? bump

With that deep/wide foot bed it doesn’t seem an invitation to get hung up. I have some, and can’t see how I’d get hung up. But if the cages speak to you, by all means ;)…the baskets seem to me an invitation for branches, vines, etc…we’ve been using some for years w/o issue …

Love my Ez ride stirrups!!! Highly recommend them. So much easier on the knees and ankles on long rides. I am seriously thinking about the cages so that I have the option of safely riding in sneakers this summer.

I love my EZ ride stirrups. Bought a new saddle and they didn’t come with any. I’m going to get some for it tho - makes a big difference. I’ve heard the cages are good for not getting your toes stuck in bushes or vines if you ride thru them.

Thanks for the replies. Just ordered the brown leather covered ones from ValleyVet and tops (1.5")from EZ Care.

Tell us what you think of them after you get them!

I love the EZ ride stirrups. Mine are aluminum (painted black). Didn’t want to worry about leather getting scratched or wet or whatever. I would think the leather ones would look better with a western saddle, however.

DO get the caged. They are a billion times safer, no chance of foot slipping through and getting caught. My three pairs of uncaged stirrups (well used, I might add) are now sitting in the corner of the tack room, no longer used. I have two sets of caged, and feel oh so better with them - plus the fact that I can cover the cage with plastic on those rainy, sleety, uber-wet endurance rides to keep my running shoes warm and dry. Never managed to get a good cover on the cageless ones.

you can always add the cages to your old stirrups. all it takes is a drill and a rivet gun.

while i never had an issue riding in sneakers in the uncaged ones, i figured i was still pushing my luck and added the cages. love them!
