Eagle Hill Farm Equine Rescue- BEWARE
Sad to say but it’s now 2016 and that place is still doing the same thing. I sure hope people do their research on this place and the people before giving them any more horses. I sure wish I did. Animal control is looking into them because they are still neglecting and abusing horses after all these years. I spent $100s of dollars on feed a month plus really good hay to keep weight on my 2 old men. I needed to find a rescue for my boys due to moving 400 miles away and didn’t want them to end up anywhere bad. Boy did I screw up letting those people come take my guys. As we where moving the rest of our belongs from our home in va (a month and a half later) animal control showed up to ask us about the 2 horses. Luckily we had all our vet records and the animal control officer knew us and our horses and knew they were in good condition before leaving our care. This so called rescue was being investigated due to the condition of their horses and tried to say they just got those 2 horses in bad shape. Which they had for a month and ahalf. Now animal control has pics of both of my old guys plus vet records and vet statements that they were both in good condition and healthy before those people came and got them. I so wish I would have done better research on that place. Hopefully they will do something after all these years.
So did you go get your horses back and try to find them a new home?

It looks like this rescue has never filed the required docs with the state vet’s office.

All shelters and rescues are required to report number of animals in, out, adopted, died/euthanized. Annually.

Looks like this one never did.
This is a VA requirement, and not a national one, correct?
It really is a good idea that every state should require.

This is so sad for the many horses that have come there over the years. When I was in college ('88-90 or so), I kept my horse and pony at that property, which was just a family farm at the time. My two horses brought the total number of horses up to four, and they had a herd of cattle. It was a beautiful property. I’m guessing it looks very different now.

I been to eagle hill equine since end of april 2018 and everything i have read i was scared about but when i got there it wasnt what everyone was saying about it. There no stallions no babys on the property. And i met josh who works on the property and he was nice and helped me and my husband figure out how this rescue works. They are kind and treat the horses how they wanna be treated. They never since i been there neglected any of thr horses there at all. I just think the last people that worked there just never knew what they got themselves into and never brought it to the co- founders of eagle hill equine reacue. But its june 27th and im still around and all the horses Are fat and happy and not like whatever is saying. So if you wanna believe what everyone in ththe past is saying then go for it. But eagle hill equine rescue is nothing what these people are saying about them. Yes we do have alot of older horses but if you all knew that older horses are hard to put weight on when in the past people didnt know how to put weight on them. But i can tell you is that they are fat and happy and just wanna be loved thats all. So go ahead and read the bad comments but you can judge a book on its cover when you neve seen first hand whats going on.

Zombie thread resurrection from a first time poster. Reader beware.

For all - as with many “rescues” these days, this started off as a well intentioned person, and then went horribly wrong. But fortunately, the wheels of bureaucracy finally acted. This owner, property, and “rescue” has finally been shut down. The owner is no longer allowed to take in horses and is only allowed to have five of her own horses on the property. All of the remaining horses were seized: https://www.fredericksburg.com/news/local/culpeper-farm-surrenders-starving-horses/article_2e4d301d-2487-5b4c-aceb-810dd62cc26c.html
