Ear bonnets for a wide head?

I have a mare who gets horribly bothered by gnats around her ears. I figured I would start using an ear bonnet, and happened to have two from when I owned a headshaker. When I tried them on, however, they weren’t wide enough across the poll, and pulled her ears together (if that makes sense)!

The bigger one measures 3.5" from ear-to-ear. Too small.

Does anybody know of an ear bonnet that works for a wider head?

Many of the custom makers will make to specific measurements. Or at least “my” maker FireFly Custom Bonnets will. Ear length, head width, drop, everything. Great option for hard to fit horses and her prices are more reasonable than most, starting at $50.

I think I posted this link in an earlier thread about bonnets, but the girl who makes these has draft and friesian crosses, so is well versed in large heads!

I have a couple of ear bonnets from these guys - http://www.uniquesaddlepads.com/shop/ - and I love them. They are very reasonably priced and I’m sure they would customize to your measurements. They’ve made saddle pads for camels, so no request is too odd!

For horse comfort I like the Cashel Comfort Ears best. Very lightweight, easy to wash, and stand up well to use/washing. They aren’t fancy, but my horses sweat less under them than the crochet style bonnet. The warmblood size were quite generous, not “slightly larger horse sized”.
