Ear Bonnets in the Hunter Ring?

Is it uncommon for Hunters to have ear bonnets on while showing?

No, you don’t see them. It would not be appropriate in the hunter ring.

I’ve never seen a hunter wear an ear net in the ring…

I would never use one in the hunter ring…never seen one either.

Ear bunnies are about the closest thing (stuffing their ears).

It would be tacky and gross!!

Not appropriate. I remember being at a large show once and the steward asked the judge if she would allow somebody to show with one. She replied “no, tell them to take it off at the gate, they can go around without it for a minute and then put it back on when they come out of the ring. This is the hunters…if the horse can’t survive for 60 secs then it shouldn’t be a hunter”. LOL…I’ve never forgotten that comment!

The horse would not be used. Although, if you didn’t care about ribboning, I guess you could wear one.

Well then, I’m guessing the rider didn’t enter with an ear bonnet! My friend wanted to know and I didn’t think they were allowed, but I figured that I would ask anyways

Just guessing, that sounds like something Sue Ashe would say. Very strict with the rule book and strict with how the hunters are played

Lol super old thread… but no, it was a Canadian judge!
