Ear plugs for horses- which kind do you like the best?

I’ve used the Pomms ear plugs for awhile, but after losing one last night, would like to try something else. The Pomms are fine, but I feel like they catch on his ear hair when I put them in/take them out. I went to the pet store and got a couple furry cat toys but they were way small.

Any recommendations?

The new acoustic fly bonnet looks interesting and easier than stuffies.

Perhaps a silly question, but are ear plugs and/or the acoustic fly bonnets legal for eventing?

Not in dressage.

Has anyone tried the acoustic ear bonnets? I used to use the pompoms when trailering as it is loud and the air pressure is annoying (at least to me) when the windows are open. But, she always managed to rub them out, so I stopped trying. The bonnets look interesting.

Weird. I thought earplugs were a hunter thing. The more you know.

I use the foam ones that are brown on one side and black on the other side. You can squeeze and compress them to put in and then I kind of roll them out as I scratch his ears.

I’m in hunterland and yes they’re very popular. Most people save them for shows, etc.
I’ve heard lots of racing people use them too. American Pharoah wore them, I think they just stuffed cotton in his ears though.

I started using them at home (at the recommendation of the BO, who is a hunter rider ) because my horse gets super distracted there- way too interested in what his friends are doing and whatnot. I don’t use them at shows because for whatever reason that I’m NOT complaining about, he’s a total professional at competitions. I do put them in for most trail rides, especially solo ones.

I just did a recognized horse trial a couple weeks ago, and they checked under his fly bonnet after dressage to make sure there were no ear plugs, but there were no checks after SJ/XC.

Polydor, I went to Petsmart last night and bought the 4 pack of the ones you suggested and besides the color, they are IDENTICAL to the Pomms! And you get 4 for $2.99 vs 2 for $10.95! Slap the word horse on anything and you can jack the price up 1000%
