I bought ear plugs for the elder horse to wear tonight. Can they be left in the ears all night?

I’m only just seeing this so you’ve probably already decided, but I am leaving them in overnight tonight since the fireworks are STILL going at near 1 am. I’ve done it on past 4ths and they’ve been fine, unless the horse loses them, in which case they might be hard to find. And people leave them in accidentally all the time. So no big deal in my opinion, for what that is worth. 
They can be, but mine will shake them out eventually, and I can’t always find them. But sometimes it’s worth sacrificing a pair for the horse to get through a stressful event.
Thanks. I found some mesh ear covers that I’d forgotten about, so put them on over the plugs and was able to keep them in place. He didn’t do too badly this year–I’d given him a calming supplement a few days prior to the 4th & I think that helped as well. I hate fireworks.
