Early Start to the fall CotH hunt!

I won’t be able to be there Thursday night. Bah humbug-have to be in Richmond until noonish on Friday.
Pulled pork!! Haha I had typed pulled port. That is TVH’s influence on me.

JSwan-I’ve always said someone should invent a men’s cologne that smells like BBQ sauce.

Tango,
Please tell us about your friend. I’m thrilled that you are going to stay with HR for the weekend. There is sooo much going on!

Now, I wonder if Weatherford will be dropping by. She will be in the U.S. from Ireland…

My friend, who also happens to be my trainer, has done some fox hunting in the past, pony clubbed as a kid, did h/j in college, then moved into lower level eventing and now enjoys bringing along young horses and coaching. And she’s blast! She hasn’t decided if she’s bringing her retired show horse (now a schoolie and packer…that also took excellent care of me on my one and only foxhunting experience!) or one of her client horses, but either way we are prepared for some fun saddle time, lots of good company, food and maybe a beverage or two.

BStreet – Tell your trainer that, if the client horse can manage a crowd/the hounds/excitement, that it is a perfect newbie opportunity as I pace my group according to the lowliest-common-denominator!
The best day of hunting, ever, that I possibly EVER had, ever ever (this in practically 46 years of hunting all-the-time) was a day last season from here. We jogged up the Linden Lane adjacent to my property as hounds struck right out my back. I knew the sneaky shortcut trail down the river and the bluffs where I knew the hounds were working.
There we stood. Didn’t any of us as much as move a muscle, and the hunt went on like a merrygoround around us. Fox. Hounds. Whips. Huntsman. First field. Second field. Laggers. Slackers. Then, the whole procession returned. Around and around they went. It was like a private orchestra, created expressly for us!
So don’t fret if horse/rider are not quite fit/quite prepared to (really) hunt, as us guys back in third field can make it work for you.
(Plus, we have better cookies back here.

The two times I’ve hunted the COTH hunt, I hunted in first flight and I can attest to the fact that I felt like I was on the merry go round and 3rd flight was always in the thick of it. At times I felt like we (my stinkin’ pony and I) were putting on a show. He really enjoyed the gallops!!! I can say I was happy to give him his head on the uphill climbs.

I don’t think I’ll make it to hunt this time, but I’m hoping to get away from my son’s football game early enough that I can make up for the blue grass jam.

Wuss. The joy of living in your neighborhood is having so many packs to choose from. An hour is nothing. My closest meet is 6 hours one way.

There is no excuse to not hunt in Virginia every day. If you have won the lottery.

Beverley,
I’ve been passing the koolaid to Tango for months to have her come on her young horse. I’m looking forward to meeting her trainer, too. They have done a wonderful job in preparing Tango’s youngster.

I’ll have a great time learning from them in all that extra time with them.

Beverley,
Can you come East and play with us?

Haha - I know we’re extremely fortunate to have SO many horsie things within a short drive. Pretty much anything you could want to do is within a 2 hour drive. But this way, we can have as much of the koolaid as we want since i suspect this is going to be a very festive weekend. I’ll have my own truck and trailer soon and won’t be at the mercy of others - yeah!!

Not this time, I’m afraid. Work and family health issues in Texas make it a little iffy to schedule splurges. It’s been a couple of years now since I had a lovely day of hunting in the Old Dominion.

But, heh, heh, heh, I am now eligible for retirement…just still enjoying work and wanting to stay a spell at my new higher salary to facility more hunting as a pensioner! And a meeting in D.C. got deferred til at least September if not October…so that might give me something to work with!

Beverley,
I’ll keep an eye out for you and hope that you create the opportunity to come and play. I know Hunter’s Rest will make space in a heartbeat and we will seriously celebrate.

Hi all, I am so sad I cannot make it this year! But I hope you understand. Mach 1 Mare and I qualified for the Eventing Championships. That will be Sept 6-9 in Georgia. (10 hours from home, yikes). I decided to go ahead and do it, as I’m not sure if I’ll ever get the opportunity again.

Also…well, I filed for divorce in July and am hoping it could possibly be finalized by mid September, at least the paperwork…and if it goes well, he moves out and I keep the house…at least that was the only part that wasn’t in the post nup…

So, it wouldn’t be prudent for me to go out of town again at that time.

Have fun for me, maybe I can think of something else funny to send in my stead…

BigBayTB, I’m sorry that we won’t see you!

On the Eventing Championships: YAYY!!!

On the Divorce: AWWW…I’m sorry to hear that…but it sounds as though you’ve got things moving along quickly, and that’s a good thing

Hugs & good luck in GA

BigBayTb,

We will have a coth hunt in your honor whenever you can come. You are an important part of us.

I’m glad that Mach Mare has blossomed with your training and you are getting to go to the AEC. Relish every moment for both of us, and then tell me all the gory details.

I hope that the divorce finishes quickly and according to your plan.

(((hugs)))

Gasping !!

BBT !! know that we all miss one of our favorite tiara wearers! We will toast with your prosecco/lemoncillo libations in your honor! Pinky swear!! And “yeesh” on the divorce thing! Been there!
OK ladies & germs…whats the headcount/ schedule? etc now. I’m gittin’ psyched.
I’ll be the one on the fat bay gasping for breath…look for me and push me back up in the saddle.
Carry on!!
Ashland Bassets has their annual fundraising Wine & Cheese Party at our kennels saturday from 4-6. Nice/fun little gathering. Gotta figure out how to do all this stuff! Don’t forget we can hunt with them 2pm sunday with tailgate after. Cap is $10. !!

Although I’m not able to be there for the “official” CotH hunt, I will be in VA riding out with Hunter’s Rest on the following weekend (9/22) and would love to catch up with my VA friends. I hope to be bringing a couple of junior riders from by barn and sharing the hunting Kool-Ade with them.

I won’t be there this year since I am saving my nickles for side saddle which fits better. But I will wear my tiara in honor of the fabulous CoTH hunt and wait for news.

I can come!
I’m the only one of the family home for the coth soiree. So, I can play…

Meee tooo Meeee toooo!!! Can’t wait! I have to stay in Richmond (work related) until noon on Friday but will zip up to HR as soon as I can escape. Don’t worry, WG, I’ll shove you back in tha sssaddle!
See everybody soon!
Wooooooodddeeeeeeehhhoooooo
ouch youch ouch youch I’m trying to get my field boots (non-brown ones, they need zippers) to drop.

It’s coming!

The COTH Hunting Princesses will convene on thurs/fri/sat/sun and then sleep for a week! We’re gonna have a gooooood time. Now us locals just gotta fret about the weather!!
Like they chanted at Woodstock - No Rain, No Rain, No Rain !!!

Can not wait! Break out the tiara’s whicker! It’s gonna be a good time!
woooooooo hoooooooo!!
