Easy Boot Gloves...or better?!

Easy Boot Gloves - What do you think?
Regular shoes don’t provide what my mare needs on rocky trails so we use hoof boots. I love our Cavallos and Old Macs but they tend to get rocks or sand down inside so we switched to Easy Boot Gloves…and as of today we have ruined two of the four I purchased. I love love love the idea of these boots. They don’t rub or let nature get trapped inside but…the stitching keeps coming undone! The gator ends up ripping halfway off which lets the hoof come out of the boot. This happened to one the first time I used them; my mare came to a stop in the trail and I knew something was wrong…her boot came off and was hanging on by the gator! I got a replacement sent which we got about 8 rides out of until it happened again today. Poor girl had to ride the last hour of rocky trail with nothing on her fronts.

Now I’m not saying the boots are bad, but they don’t seem to be working for us. They are fitted correctly and my mare doesn’t overreach so I’m not sure what could be causing this issue, but we go out for long rides and I need to find something that isn’t going to leave her barefoot halfway through. Any recommendations? Has anyone experienced something similar with Easy Boot Gloves? I called the company when I got home and they are sending a replacement…again (excellent customer service!) but we can’t keep destroying boots!

I love my Easy Boot Back Country boots. I recently used them in South Dakota and they stayed on and held up through numerous creek crossings, rocks, mud, a trip to Black Elk Peak. I’ve also used them on a hilly, rocky, and muddy trail system close to home. I’ve occasionally found a few tiny rocks inside, so you may be looking for something less enclosed than these. Have you looked into Scoot Boots or Renegades? They seem to be two of the most popular brands.

I’ve actually been looking into Scoot Boots and they seem like a solid option. We go through a good bit of mud in my area and they seem like they would drain better than some. Might have to give a set of those a try and see how long it takes my mare to destroy them

I gave up on the Gloves except for using them on my driving ponies - but don’t use them anymore as now I have all the sizes I need in Scoots for them. The Gloves didn’t hold up - they tore, gaiters tore off, and the boot developed holes, rips, and tears so easily. And they came off, no matter how carefully I fitted them. They are “cheap” for a reason.

Tried the Renegades. Liked them at first…then the Velcro started giving me problems, coming undone and becoming fatigued to the point of needing to be replaced, falling off under pressure, and the cables would break. Just recently sold my last pair of them.

Totally fallen in love with the Scoot boots, and currently doing the Scoot glue-on for my endurance horse. It is the only boot that can be left glued on for the duration of the trim. These are GREAT boots. Super easy to put on/take off, stays on, colourful, fairly quiet.

I love Scoots. I also really like Renegades. Gloves worked for one mare I had, but they were a pain. If they aren’t a pain to put on, they won’t stay on, in my experience.

After yesterday’s ride, I give up on the gloves. My mare ruined her set in less then a month. I thought maybe they just weren’t right for her so yesterday I used the other two on my gelding. First ride in and the gaiter tore off!

A friend was riding my mare in her new Scoot Boots and they held up ok…but one of the pastern straps ripped which did let the boot come off.
