COTHers, has this happened to others: I couldn’t read my stopwatch last week on a super sunny day at 12:30pm. It’s a light gray face with black digits. It was SO sunny that I was seeing the underlying number grid underneath. It wasn’t really safe to take my other hand and create shade, I was really motoring along! I usually take a split second glance at my watch 2-3 times throughout the XC course, but the glare was so bad, I couldn’t see my time no matter which way I twisted my arm. I’m thinking to buy a cheapo men’s digital watch with a large face. I just need the stopwatch functionality as I don’t use minute beeps, countdown, etc. Would a black face with white numbers be the solution to read at high noon sunshine vs usual black numbers on gray? Other suggestions?
I’ve never had a problem with the optimum time watching no matter the weather. What watch are you currently using?
have you thought about one of the old time mechanical stopwatches ? when I was doing radar vectoring as an air traffic controller I used standard old-time stop watch to time the aircraft
How do you people ever have time to look at a watch!? I like looking at the scenery and the next fence.
Well first of all, don’t ask me. I could see my Optimum Time watch just fine in bright sun a few weeks ago, but it helps if you hit the start button…
There are such things as talking stopwatches. https://atlanticknife.com/collections/dakota/products/dakota-atomic-talking-digital-wrist-watch-black-red-alarm-stopwatch-7241
if I had a dollar for every time I forgot to start my watch, I could buy another horse.
Ooooohhh!
