Easyboot Trail versus Cavallo Sport

Easyboot Trail versus Cavallo Sport

I’ve got a horse with long narrow feet, (3/4" longer than wide) and from what I’ve gathered, my best options would be either the Easyboot trail or the Cavallo Sport Hoof Boot, both of which are designed for a narrower foot.

Can any of you provide feedback on which one is easier to fasten on the hoof? I’m leaning towards the Cavallo simply because the fastening (or closing of the Velcro) is done from the front of the hoof, instead of fastening behind the hoof as what appears to be the case with the Easyboot Trail.

Any thoughts or comments on either of the boots would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have no personal experience with any of the Easyboots, although I have some friends who have used them and they seemed to be something of a pain to properly fit. I use the Cavallo Simples on my OTTB, and they couldn’t be easier to put on and take off-- even my 70-year old friend with arthritis can get them on/off her horse in seconds. The Sports are a little different, obviously, but the principle is the same.

I WILL say this much, though-- whenever I ride anywhere swampy, I zip-tie the velcro tabs closed on the Simples-- they come with little plastic “keepers” for the tabs, but I find them absolutely impossible to use, even after watching the demonstration video. The Simples are double-velcroed, so it takes A LOT to get them off, but it did happen to me once when I took Horse swimming. (Thank goodness, I was able to retrieve the boot!)

I’m not sure if there’s a way you can zip-tie the Sports on though… I’ve only ever put them on my horse once, for about 30 seconds, to find that they weren’t a good fit and then promptly returned them.

I have used both the Cavallo Simple and Sport boots on my horses and the Sport boots are a great fit for a narrow hoof. They are really easy to get on and I have never had a boot come off…we ride in some really muddy areas! A friend of mine tried the Trail boot and she lost it in the first mud puddle we went through. She switched to the Cavallo Sport boots and has never had her boots come off on the trail since.
