ETA - Nevermind, I was outbid on both burros I was interested in. I am surprised at how much the burros are going for this time, last auction they didn’t go for much.
I am approved to adopt up to two burros (or mustangs younger than 18 months) from the BLM.
There are two that I am very interested in but I am conflicted on whether it is best to take two or if it would be better to just take one.
My first thought was that burros are social animals and it would be better for them to have a like-companion especially while they are being trained as they won’t be out with the horses until they are reliably caught.
However, I also know burros are incredibly smart and part of me wonders if they will feed off of each other and make it difficult to bond with and train them.
Any thoughts from someone experienced in this area? I am comfortable working with unhandled horses/donkeys but have only done it individually, never with one who has had a partner.
