I currently use a plain full cheek gag with rope pulls. My boy loves he action the gag gives and responds well to it overall, though at times I wish I had a bit more umph when jumping (he has lots of powder in that hind end of his)
In searching for gags I notice there are TONS and I am curious to know the differences between them and what type of situations you would use them in.
rubber snaffle gag
regular snaffle gag
roller snaffle gag
two ring
three ring
Stubben gag
slow/tight twist gag
waterford gag
and whatever else is out there.
I will say that my boy is a chewer and loves chewing on the bit and when frustrated or annoyed will grind teeth. I recently tried a rubber snaffle gag thinking he might be happier with a thicker bit and we noticed the grinding of teeth was less…though gotta love that chewy rubber noise…
