It is my completely unprofessional opinion but the main difference in these 2 is that Klimke’s horse looks ready to go out and do ANY discipline, an athlete plain and simple. Where as our beautiful, black, talented friend looks like he is suited to do dressage. Period. Personally, I prefer the former.

My gosh it’s been awhile since I’ve watched a video of Ahlerich. And it’s always goose bumps.
Yeah, I’ll take the former, too, but I ride ottb’s, so what do I know?
luckily there are still those types of riders out there…(ie his daughter, etc)
but i would hazard a guess that marketing and trying to make dressage a popular sport is behind it all.
