Egmont - Trakehner stallion by Falke

Does anyone by any chance have a picture of him or know where to find one?

And whatever happened to him? Does anyone know?

He seems shrouded in mystery and terrible happenings from what I can gather from various posts on various boards. Such a promising stallion and then gone … seemingly without a trace

Many thanks as always

I liked him a lot. I remember seeing him for sale on a thoroughbred sport horse website many, many years ago. I inquired about him and his price was very high at the time.
Let me see if his photo survived the computer fire of 2008.

Many thanks cant-re!

Belambi - I am finding lots of pedigree info and lots of written info on him, but no pictures at all. Im hoping that someone has a picture of him that they can dredge up and share

Lots for Falke - he looked like an AMAZING stallion!

Met his breeder in 2006 when she was at the ATA Convention in OH and Apollo Son (who’s dam sire is Egmont) was approved. Or rather, I met his breeder’s daughter. Lovely lady.

Apollo is now at the same barn as Tate, competing with Andrew Palmer in dressage.

FWIW I was trying to get info on a supposed Falke daughter and contacted his owners. Evidently one of them pitched the old records.

True Colours, I sent you a PM.

Anyone else have any solid info? I’ve been trying to track down a daughter of his, Conquista, who is now about 20 years old for forever. I found old sales ads of hers from 4 years ago but nothing since then. Anyone know her by chance?

As far as Egmont… the story I was told was that he was starved to death, and this would have been many years ago at this point. I have no proof but my source was reputable.

I was very kindly sent a picture of Egmont that I’d be happy to share but as far as what happened to him, nothing more than bits and pieces here and there …

You probably already know this, but just in case :).

I looked her up on the data base - she was bred by Causeway Farms and born 1991 out of an Ameigo mare. I have not tried to “find” Causeway farm - but they were the owners of Egmont at the end at least. (and Causeway Farm was in Lexington KY). You might try to google search his breeder’s name (on the ATA website) and/or Causeway. Are you coming to the ATA Convention (at Majestic Gaits Farm)? Donna Baker may know more about him since she had Apollo Sun when the mare was bred and had the dam in her barn for a while (who was by Egmont) and might be able to tell you more. Apollo’s owners are going to be there too (I think) and they might be able to tell you something…

So very sad about Egmont. It gives one the shivers. Certainly this thread again telsl us what we already know–that when you part with a horse whether to a promised good home through the freebie ads or as a normal sale-you can never be sure what the next person will do with that horse-it maybe better than what you could ever dream of–or a nightmare. As others have said once you give up ownership–you give up all rights unless otherwise contracted. One can only hope that due diligence to check out the prospective home/ or the winning story may be the best defense-or so I can try to tell myself that.

Acottongim, thanks but I do know that. I own that Amiego mare who is her dam, and she is now 29 years old. I have talked to Phillip Buckler on the phone in the past, but there’s a lot to that… and he would have no idea as to where Conquista is. She has been sold a number of times but never transferred owners according to the ATA :frowning:

Falke

I got to ride him once when Judy Yancey had him. I had never done one tempis before. He did them for me while we were on a trail ride. He was awesome. I think he was horribly underused as a breeding stallion and show horse.

I saw Falke and Mahon when Judy Yancey took them both to the annual ATA meeting in Columbus, OH one year in the 80s. Both were magnificent, each in his own way. Falke had the look of a storybook stallion. He was breathtakingly beautiful and seemed almost magical. I fell in love with him on the spot.

Sophie’s dam supposedly is by Falke. I think she is rather special https://picasaweb.google.com/carolp3231/Sophie#slideshow/5793220048748052786

Causeway Farm was actually in Louisville off Long Run Road. They sold it about 10-12 years ago to a developer. Very sad as it was a great boarding and training facility. I got to see Egmont and handle him in person. He was a beautiful horse. I do have hard copy photos of him from that time somewhere. I can try to scan them or something, if the original poster is interested. I live in the area and have heard stories about him as well. Very sad.
