EGO7 boots and breaking in

Help! I got a pair of EGO7 field boots last spring, my horse didn’t end up competing last summer so I didn’t end up breaking my boots in. They are SO tight! They were quite tight when I picked them up. The tack shop didn’t have my size and height, so I tried on my calf size, and my height in a too loose calf. I admit, this was probably not a good idea to order them this way because I thought even when I picked them up they were a little too tight.

I’ve got leather stretch boot spray on right now, and can feel a pulse in both my calves… Any other ideas? If they aren’t going to stretch out I’ll have to sell them. I have been trying to ride in them and quite quickly loose feeling in both my lower legs.

Mine were like this and the store stretched them so I could just get them zipped up! Then I rode with wet socks and left the boots on until the socks were dried. Took about 2 weeks and they fit like a glove… the leather is butter soft and will stretch

This is so good to hear! I’ll take them this week to see about getting them stretched out a little bit. Riding in them has been challenging, my legs get numb pretty quick and become fairly useless.

Try walking around in them more around the house first. The Egos should fit tight, as there is elastic running up it that will stretch over time. The leather is great and tends to hold up for a decent amount so good luck and I hope they break in soon!

I do a modified “bathtub method” I saturate the inside and outside 2/3’s of the boots with plain water. I put a strong zip tie on the zipper pull (if you can) for extra leverage). I support the inside part of the zipper with my finger as I run the zipper up. Other tips… zip up while lying down with leg in the air so gravity will help thin your leg. Zip with thoughtful speed - the teeth can bend making them susceptible to future breakage if you get stuck mid zip.

Start with a bare leg (this is when the “finger zipper inner support” helps so you don’t zip your flesh) and work your way up to wearing them with breeches.

Wear the boots around the house as much as you can bear and keep wetting the outside (I pour a bit of water into the boots as well) Wear until dry (or as much as you can take).

I hate breaking in Ego7s but they are a great deal and hold up to daily use. I put on a good layer of leather therapy on the inside and wear them all day, works like a charm!

Does anyone have an estimate as to how much they drop once broken in? I would like to get a size 38 with the 17.5" height (tried a 39 with a 17.5 and the height was perfect but the foot was too big) but they don’t come in 17.5" in a 38, only 17 or 18. Don’t want to get a 17" if they drop a lot, nor do I want to get an 18" if they don’t drop at least a half inch. Help?
