EHV at Thermal?

It’s not IT delays. They won’t be posted unless there is an EHM case (neurological signs). EHV only are not under official quarantine and will not show up on the CDFA site.

lymphagitis; Pigeon fever)

Just wanted to add that as far as the Western division goes, and their horse shows being held despite the EHV outbreak, the Western division isn’t a USEF affiliate, and so no one would have received recent USEF press releases. There’s no mention of the outbreak on the Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Association website. Upcoming shows are scheduled for Rancho Murieta (March 25) and Los Angeles Equestrian Center in April.

As an educator who had to pivot a lab science to an online format in a matter of days with zero tech support I can assure you that the vast technological resources in California definitely don’t trickle down.

I am not saying it trickles down, what I am saying is that it is their responsibility to update the public on a timely basis. If that means they have to hire engineers in a state where they are a dime a dozen, then that’s what it means.

(If, of course, the problem here is an IT problem and not a policy problem)

I find it hard to believe that whatever horse show office program the shows are using they do not have a way of scooping the email of every owner rider trainer into a mass mailing alert.

and there is no excuse for the state authorities to have not alerted the venues and the venues their coming shows managements.

In other words, neighbors. :slightly_frowning_face:

Are all barns at Middle Ranch locked down?

And the name of the organizer/vet is?

20 miles? Cerritos vs Brea.

More like $2000 a dozen, per hour.

The Arizona Sun Circuit (AQHA) has been going on down at Westworld in Scottsdale. Hundreds upon hundreds of horses, from all over the surrounding states, stabled in the show barns for 10 days. If you’ve ever been to a primarily western performance competition, there’s a whole lot of standing around in a giant group at the back gates. When I asked one of my friends (not at my barn) who’s showing down there, if she was at least a little wary about the horses that had come in from Calif., she said no one seemed to think that the EHV outbreak was a big deal because it’s concentrated in hunters and jumpers.

There was no health check/testing info required to get into Westworld except the out of state horses needed to have their Coggins paperwork handy.

Laugh, like bad training or hunter hair… it will just not make the leap over to another discipline I guess.

Erin Duffy rents her barn from MR, which is to say she employs her own grooms and stall cleaners. It’s locked down and they are taking all precautions regarding sterilization.

That’s at the main ranch. There are no cases at the other two locations. No new horses allowed in.

I guess western people forget about it tearing through the cutting world a few years ago.

It’s Colorado Horse Park. They like to cancel for no apparent reason.

Galway Downs is in full lockdown…you may leave, but you can’t come back…hopefully, they will be able to open the venue by the end of this month (March).

Due to the current severe outbreak of EHV-1 in California, to prioritize equine health and proactively protect the 2022 show season, the WSHJA Board has decided to cancel the Spring National Inaugural Hunter Jumper, Spring National Hunter, and April Outreach horse shows.

Similar to recent decisions made across California and Oregon, WSHJA recognizes the need to protect the welfare and health of the Washington equine community by canceling shows for the month of April.

To date, there are no known infections within Washington state, and we hope with this decision, we can keep all horses safe while staying positive for our Pacific Northwest Show in May.

We will continue to monitor this outbreak closely, and provide updates about our May show as we move closer to those dates.

If you have any questions or feedback, please send them directly to manager@wshja.org.

More information regarding EVH can be found at https://equinediseasecc.org.

Stronger Together,

2022 WSHJA Board

Per Diva, sounds like a horse came from Thermal to WEF and tested positive for EHV-1 last week. Management was not made aware until yesterday.
