Anyone worried? 3rd case now and no one is concerned.
There’s a couple threads up on this, one about Canada and one about Florida.
The thread when searched from Florida is from the outbreak 8 years ago. I don’t see any new threads addressing what is currently happening besides this one?
WEC confirmed one sick horse, they aren’t permitting horses in. Europe is closed down, the shows in Spain are struggling with many sick horses.
EHV 1 outbreak in Ocala is it real?
Under horse care. Multiple posters lots of discussion and detail, started about 4 or 5 days ago.
Is it real? YES, it’s real.
There are 3 sick horses in Ocala and Barn D is under quarantine with a horse that presented with a fever onsite and has been sent out to UFL for observation. Considering it’s the hunter/jumper community directed affected by this one, I’d say it’s ok to have a thread in h-j for those of us not combing through other threads.
I will just point out that as of this year, it’s helpful to specify which Ocala location is being discussed.
I hope this whole EHV thing is kept under control. Very scary.
I would think the link to WEC would give that away.
Seems like they’re being very transparent so far.
It’s very concerning, as 3 in one small area in less than a week is quick. Not to mention the movement of horses in and out of state that we may not know about yet.
In the new format I see all the new threads irregardless of what forum they are in. In the past I used to have to visit each forum separately. I guess if your interface still works like that it makes sense to have parallel posts on different forums discussing the same thing.
The title is unfortunate but the thread was started last week when it was still a rumor. Nobody is debating rge reality in the thread!
She was referencing the name of the thread, not questioning the reality.
You’re not the only person posting on the BB.
Riiiighhht. But given that the horses were also at a private farm in Ocala and also the amount of bouncing between shows that has been going on up til this week’s restrictions… I don’t see any issue with the title of the thread.
In all likelihood, if it isn’t contained to these few horses, you will probably see cases from both facilities eventually. There’s been a lot of cross traffic, so it wouldn’t be surprising whatsoever.
Why would you say no one is concerned? Lots of people are very concerned. I’ve seen lots of concern expressed online, barns are cancelling their plans to go to Ocala, and people have gotten their horses out of there and put them in isolation at home to be safe. Just because WEC elected to continue the shows doesn’t mean no one is concerned, plenty of people are.
All three circuits have made statements and established protocols. Individual farms as well as people travelling between those farms, whether in Ocala or Wellington, are taking all sorts of precautions. If you were at those venues, you would see the concern. I go to a farm with a bag on each horse’s stall with its own thermometer, sanitizer, and notebook.
Dressage person here, I was supposed to take a horse to the WEC show next weekend; they offered us full refunds ex office fee if we were uncomfortable with the situation (had to let them know by this past Friday) and I decided not worth the risk.
Oreo Mom’s post has to be the most ironic post to ever hit the internet.
