Elevator Bit Substitute

My horse works at her best while in an elevator bit. However, this bit is not legal in either hunter or dressage competition. Can someone suggest an alternative which would provide the same results?

Thank you.teresaponziani@yahoo.com

probably would get more answers on h/j or dressage forums.

A Boucher bit (dressage ring) will give you poll pressure, but not as much as the three ring. I don’t know of any sort of snaffle like substitute. Maybe a broken mouth/French link pelham for the hunters??

I definitely second the Boucher. My mare is great in a double, good in an eggbutt snaffle and as we’ve recently started going cross country we’ve used an elevator… she’s great in it. I remember when we first started showing dressage I used a Boucher and she was great. Works very similarly to the elevator.
