eliminating record on usea search

Just curious. I’ve looked up some rider records on usea and they aren’t available. One rider has NO record posted and another has only 2013 and forward.

How is it that one can have a record expunged? Interesting that one would want to do that and interesting that usea will actually do that…

When I look up up my name there is no record. I have not renewed since 2012 but I have events going back to 2007 (and from the olden days, but they aren’t digital.) Maybe the system deletes you after a while?

I have found their lookup functions to be wonky at times - for a while I could only see current year standings. Maybe something changed with the new website design. I certainly don’t jump to the conclusion the rider has anything to do with the missing records.

I presume OP knows that this person HAS a record prior to 2013. If you aren’t a current member I don’t believe anything comes up when searching by rider.

As to how? I have no idea. My records go back to the beginning of my membership, 10 years or so. Though some older records do seem to be cleared out. I’d looked up a horse I knew and found his records with the 2nd past owner. When I tried later (a month?) to print them for the current owner they were gone, but the records with the most recent past owner were still there.

Search via logging into Online Services. Results prior to 2005 or so aren’t available through the regular search function.

I can’t search riders anymore either. Online services only lets me search by horse’s name – what’s the secret???

This is the link I’ve always used and it seems to be working fine.

http://useventing.com/competitions/profile-user-search

I think it’s the new website. I’ve found some glitches in looking at particular rider’s records recently.

I used that link and looked up my trainer and she had no results showing - she has not been to a recognized show in a few years, but I would think she would still have some results.

I looked up myself and only results were showing for this year. Prior to this year, I was last at a recognized show in 2008 (if memory serves correctly.

Interesting…I looked up my record. In the normal rider look up–just shows the most recent competitions–and that all looks correct. When I go through the Online Services, it has some of my older records but is missing a bunch. Several horses. More recent stuff looks mostly there. A few of the missing are of horses that I know I had sold etc.

Oh well…good thing I really don’t care but it does show that the older online records are not the most accurate.

It’s quite a leap of logic to go from “NO record posted” to “record expunged […] the usea will actually do that”.

More likely to be a computer glitch, or the summer intern the USEA had doing data entry made a mistake, or the records have been lost, or…

ETA: there, I fixed the quotes.

Did I say that? Where???

Love the quote marks used… who are you quoting?

or did you insinuate that I insinuated?

That’s is strange, isn’t it? I wasn’t thinking of you, btw!

There is no record for a couple of people who I know have competed recently and at least one other who has only a partial record. Must be the new computer system.

LOL–wasn’t thinking you were:) But it reminded me to check. I think it is our responsibility to check our own records from time to time. What was interesting to me was that I could find some records from 1998…but not my first horses who were prior to that (and I know competed in a few recognized events prior to that–and found one of the horses but they showed no record) and couldn’t find a few that were in the early 2000’s but could find others. Oh well…nothing critical and I suspect that they do need expunge the records from time to time.

Yep! My records on four different horses are gone, poof, as if they never existed and all of them were prior to 1999. Mick’s mother is one of them. And think I have one record from one event with Willa who was the mare I bought when I decided to resume eventing in 2004. My first horse, Olanali, has one recorded event with me and I know that I competed him in excess of 15 USCTA events. I would guess that this is a result of going from paper to electronic. All of those files must’ve been a bear to going through.

Who knows why we have missing records from more recent times. There seems to be no consistent pattern.

This is a “down” time of work for me this month, so I am trying to keep myself occupied. Give me collating! Anything!
