Eliminating Wasp Nests In Chicken House

Any suggestions on how to kill wasps that have taken over the chicken house without creating toxic dead wasps that chickens will try to eat? We can’t get in there to clean out the house without risking getting attacked. Wasp spray it not an option since we don’t want toxic dead wasps everywhere.

On youtube there is a guy called the Hornet King that shows how to remove them without chemicals. Its a facinating channel.

There are sprays safe to use around pets.
Years ago I got one based on peppermint that I used on nests in my barn eaves.
IIRC, it was from Home Depot.
Nests were right above where horses walked out of the stalls, so I didn’t want anything toxic dripping on them.

I saw a video of someone holding a jar of gasoline over a wasp nest and they all dropped dead into the jar. I mean, I wouldn’t want gas fumes around the chickens, but the wasps are collected.

But honestly, I just knock wasp nests down at night with a broom pole. The wasps don’t go into attack mode in the dark. And by morning they won’t be hanging around.

Can you lock the birds out, do the murder, then muck them all out? That’s what I tend to do if they’re indoors. The outside eaves ones I hit with the garden hose and the chickens eat them.

The way our chicken house is designed that would be difficult. May try an early morning assault. We don’t want to upset the chickens while they are roosting at night.
