Hello - Would anyone here have experience buying Eliquis from an online Canadian pharmacy (I am based in the USA). Looking for cheaper options, as with my current prescription plan it is about $313 for 180 tabs of 5mg. Any insight or other options are greatly appreciated. Thank you
Have you explored the manufacturers discount card?
I was at the ER with a blood clot a month ago, and Eliquis had a program that covered the first month at no charge to the patient. Of course then I needed to get two more months of it, and that cost me a whopping $600. It didn’t help that I hadn’t met my prescription deductible for the year because everything else I take is generic.
I looked at the manufacturer program, and I didn’t qualify due to being on Medicare. But if you are on private insurance it should be an option for you.

You can always try Coumadin – it’s cheap!!
Don’t know if GoodRx would defray the cost, but they cover a LOT of other prescription meds. Worth a try since it’s no cost or risk to you.
I think that the reason many people are now on Eliquis is because it doesn’t require the regular monitoring that Coumadin/Warfarin does.
(I’m on Warfarin and have been for over 24 years continuously. Yes, I get my INR tested monthly but I prefer that because I always know what is is and am also comforted by the fact that Warfarin is easily and quickly reversed if necessary.)
What did you find to be the best option? My mother wants me to figure this out for her. Thanks!
Try to stick with the Eliquis, it seems much more reliable, with consistent results than the Coumadin whose dosage has to be changed often. Most folks don’t get much done in monitoring, so they have scary issues appearing suddenly!
Hello,
I’m a healthcare provider that occasionally sends prescriptions to Canada. Look into Canadian Pharmstore (Pharmstore.com). Apixiban 5 mg is about $125 for 200 tabs right now. You’ll need to make an account, give your account number to your doctor, and then your doctor sends in a prescription with your account number. It usually takes about 6 weeks to receive your first shipment.
Hope that helps!
That’s what the ER PA who prescribed Eliquis for me said. It certainly eliminated my clot in the expected timeframe, and I had no problems other than the expected bruising when I was on it.
Years ago, I got prescriptions from a Canadian pharmacy. It was a great experience. When I researched it, the conventional wisdom at that time was to buy from an online pharmacy that also had a brick and mortar presence. That way you knew it was a legit pharmacy, and not someone in another country claiming to be a Canadian pharmacy. I don’t know what’s recommended now on choosing a pharmacy.
Thank you. Yes, I did read that and it sure does make sense.
Can you use MyAbbvie Assist for Eliquis? I think there is patient financial support through their program, but I could be wrong.
I get some of my prescription drugs for free through MyAbbvie Assist, and their patient reps, including their nurses, are awesome. They’ve also sent me free stuff for my medications.
Didn’t know about this program so thank you and your info will surely help others too. I don’t see Eliquis on their list.
I thought there was a program for Eliquis. I don’t usually qualify for those due to being on Medicare. But I did get my first month free through a program the ER pharmacy was participating in.
