Embark DNA results in, care to guess the breeds?

[In case there are other people out there that also enjoy guessing the breeds, here are pictures of my 94 lb, 11 month old foundling.

I got a real kick out of the product that Embark supplied, much more than I was expecting.

Dino shows no aggression to man nor beast, isn’t too interested in fetching or herding. Will wade into the water and plays in a kiddie pool.

Has never howled, and is quite an active dog. Voracious chewer. Has good recall and chooses to stay with people rather than wander. If he gets out of the fence we find him waiting at the front door to be let in.

Used to try to play with the cats but not much prey drive.

Mastiff mix, maybe with lab and/or a bully breed.

I’m guessing there’s some Boxer in there. Maybe a little Dane and Pit? He’s lovely, sounds like a great dog!

Mastiff and/or Great Dane, some bully type breed, probably some Lab.
I’m guessing once you get to the smaller percentages there is a whole slew of miscellaneous breeds in there.

He sure is cute.

Yes, that is essentially my guess. I’d put it in order this way:
Lab, Great Dane, Pit/Bully mix, Boxer…maybe Mastiff or Cane Corso

Hmm. I don’t doubt that there is bulldog and mastiff background, but it’s unlikely that this dog has 3 different Mastiff breeds in the actual pedigree versus the idea that Bullmastiffs, for example, are a mix of other Mastiff breeds.

Same with American Bulldog; they are not a common purebred dog with generations of purebred ancestors, but it is the common name often given to bully mixes. (Of course there are some purebred American Bulldog breeders out there, but they are not a popular breed.)

I’d kind of think this dog is about 50% Mastiff mix, 25% bulldog types, and 25% ‘other’.

But, in general, that’s how I feel about these types of tests. They give the impression that purebred dogs are part of the equation, when it’s more likely to be generations of mixed breeds.

That makes sense to me! I was sure there was going to be some Dane in there, at times his profile really looks Dane to me. Am Bulldogs are popular here these days so sure no surprise there. He lives with a Dogue de Bordeaux, we really like the Mastiff types!

His breeds are all pretty apparent EXCEPT the Rottweiler part but then we couldn’t see his body in any of the shots. What’s his body type? And sometimes those mixes w/ a small portion of a breed like the Rottie just don’t show up physically. Interesting mix anyway.
