Does anyone have any thoughts?
What kinds of mares he’s needs or to stay away from using with him? What he’s passing to progeny? Any other information that would be helpful to breeders looking into using him.
Thanks
One of our mares has 2 by Emerald. The colt is now approved stallion and won the Belgian 4 Year Old Championships. The filly jumped and then produced a colt. Our mare is carbon copy of her sire Querlybet Hero, but in piebald.

Both Emerald’s look more like their sire than dam. Neither are small (a common complaint I’ve heard for Diamant de Semilly’s). I liked the cross so much, I used Dominator Z with our mare and got a carbon copy of her 2 Emerald’s, but in piebald.
I don’t know if these comments help.
My friend had a 2017 by Emerald out of a 1.50m GP by Lasino. We also got to see Emerald at his home in Belgium last fall, so it was nice to see the similarities in person. The colt is pretty much a dead ringer for Emerald. He’s big, chestnut with chrome, a bit cheeky, and has been jumping over stuff in the field for fun since he was a few days old. He sold to the same rider that used to ride the dam, which seems like a good compliment. It will be fun to see how he develops. My friend was super happy with the colt and will definitely use Emerald again.
Thank you for your feedback! Really helpful to hear about and see some of his youngsters. Any other thoughts or comments or experience with this stallion or his offspring?
Bump. Any other thoughts or comments on this stallion?

I read an article about him in COTH that indicated that he could be a bit hot at shows. I had planned to breed my mare to him until I read that. She brings enough heat!
I read that article and don’t see hot, but I do see sensitive (part about his mind getting ahead of him). Didn’t it say he was super chill in the warmup ring and good at shows?
I love him. I think my mare wants to have his baby, but she’s already spoken for this year. LOL.
it’s interesting how people interpret things – I read that article and after reading the stuff about how little turnout he gets, how busy he is, show life, and a stallion… that for them to describe him as chill (which they did, a few times) and pretty laid back is really telling about his disposition! i know my gelding, who is very sensible would not be too sensible in that kind of atmosphere/setting.
It says he’s good as long as they don’t feed him grain at shows. But if a little food makes him hard to handle… he’s not the right stallion for me or my mare.
you have to take in consideration also, that these are horses at the top of the sport… they don’t see any turnout… and they’re in hectic environments. maybe a better indicator would be to see what his non-UL offspring are doing and what their disposition is like, since they’re likely to be kept in more horse-friendly environments.
not encouraging you to ignore what you think is right for your mare, since you know best – but i take the ‘Behind Stall Doors’ with a grain of salt always, especially when they say stuff like “he gets turned out daily” and then later expand "1-2 hrs a day in a grass paddock… and then go on to say “sometimes he can be silly”. nice.
