My vet’s office just got a notification that after August 1st the price of Enalapril will be increasing 600-800%!!!
Just a heads up if anyone is using this!!!
Don’t use it but will be sure to let clients know. Hopefully we can stock up now and hold off increasing costs to clients

Had to take Sting to the vet this morning, and vet did verify Enalapril price hike. He said also Doxycycline (sp?) is going up. I ask if this was the same reason for the Adequan shortage, but he said no different circumstance. Apparently there was a shut down of the lab that makes Adequan. Possibly due to a problem discovered by inspectors.
Clomipramine is also going up up up. We just got notice that they price will be going up 800%. Used to be two manufacturers, now will just be one for the generic. Trying to find alternatives for patients. Fun stuff!
For some, you can substitute benazapril. Though, I suspect the price will go up on that as well. Enalapril used to be on Wal-mart’s $4 drug list, I wonder if it will be still.
Benazapril can be compounded cheaper, and many dogs that are on enalapril can safely be switched over. However…check with your cardiologist, they often have many drug combinations that could work within a budget.
