Endurance Horse Treadmill Training ...HELP !!!!!!

Hello
We are in a lonely place over here in the uk due to the fact treadmills are not used here very much.
We have invested in a treadmill to see if it can give us an edge this year with the training of our horses especially our young endurance mare.
We are now finding it hard to get info. about specific training programs as most folk use them for just walking or flat out racing.

The plan we use now is based on how we would train under the saddle…
THE QUESTION IS…CAN WE DO IT A BETTER WAY ?

Also what belt lube is the best for performance / cost ?

ALL POZ. SUGGESTIONS WELCOME

Which brand of treadmill did you buy?

As for which belt lube is best, probably ask the company you bought it from.

As for training, can’t really help you. We only use it for additional fitness and mainly hill training since we don’t have any hills here. Our horses are on it 3 days a week for 24 mins at a times. We have a Horse Gym 2000. So the horses are all ridden 5-6 days a week. Ours are jumpers as well.

Not sure if this is helpful at all.

treadmills are great for interval training.

Thanks polydor for the reply.
Our treadmill is quite old, it came from ireland and looks like the design was sold off years ago. It is same spec. and looks a lot like the victory 38.
No one wants to give out any info. as to which lube as we have not spent money with them.
Our little mare is only 440 kg and the treadmill has always coped very well with her. But when i put my 560 kg horse on it wont even move.
This has to be a friction problem so i asked a convayor belt supplier what to use and he suggested silicon grease. This has taken a massive load off the motor even with our little mare on. I have yet to try the bigger guy on because i dont want to break anything. CAN I ASK WHAT LUBE YOU USE AND WHAT WEIGHT YOUR HORSES ARE PLEASE ? Many thanks

Sorry can’t really help :S We have only been using ours since november. Will have to check the lube to see if it needs more. Our horses are warmbloods/irish sport horses show jumpers so 16-17 hh so definitely closer to the 550kg weight and they do a brisk walk on it with no issues.

Just looked up the Horse Gym website and they sell lube. Not sure if you can do a close up on the container to see what it says. Or maybe talk to them see if it might work for yours?
