enjoying brief halcyon moment

Today has been sunny and just warm enough, with a sweet wind. A delight and a relief after weeks of cold and wet!

And today has been a great day for new driving horses as well. Willow was put to the cart for the first time, after months of preparation. Roxanna and Ragtime were longlined for the first time, ditto. Rags had a few strong opinions about who was supposed to be in charge, but settled down quickly. Rox and Willow were true ladies!

Feeling good. Very tired, but good.

Wonderful! What a rewarding day!

Hehehe, you sent me to Wikipedia looking for the definition of halcyon as you used it. I have never heard that! I have a friend named Halcyon, and all this time I never knew the name had a definitoin.

**A halcyon (pronounced /hælsian/) is a mythical bird—often identified as a kingfisher—said to breed in a floating nest at sea during the winter solstice, during which time it charms the wind and waves into calm. The term originates from the Greek myth of Alcyone

 So is your friend a calmer of waves? I’ve always thought it would be a great name for a horse, but haven’t yet found the right horse.

I think she probably is. Or has learned to be. She has 4 kids under 7, and 2 of them are twins. If she can’t charm the wind and calm the waves, their lives could be chaotic!

Well, that was yesterday here. Beautiful. I drove Poppy and longlined Chili. Right now we have about 8" of snow and it is suppose to keep coming all night. Boy am I sick of winter.

That was the whole week here - really lovely and I had great outings with Bryn. Now there is all this white junk on the ground - not as much as you Price! and DH is in Houston, as usual never around when it might be useful. I am so over winter!!
