Entry rules?

Does a horse owner have to have USEA and USEF numbers to enter her horse in recognized event?
Thank you.

You only need a USEA number for BN through TR. If you are showing Prelim and above, you will need USEF, as well as a passport? If this is incorrect, rules gurus, then please let me know?

If you want year end point for your horse, then you need to register your horse, too. If you are showing below Prelim, then you can buy the lower cost registration.

USEA registration only for BN-T (though you can not have it for BN and pay a non-USEA member fee each show). USEA + USEF for Prelim and above. Passport only needed for FEI events.

Thanks! Guts and Glory. Merry Christmas to you and your Mom!

Pretty sure for next year you will need USEA membership even for BN.

Sorry, make that the rider will need USEA membership. The owner does not, but at P+ they need USEF membership.

That’s good to know HF. For recognized dressage, as an owner I needed a USDA and a USEF membership–although I could have paid a fee for not being a member of USEF. I went ahead and joined, since it would pay for itself after 2 shows. We only ended up doing one though, since my 5 YO of course chose the recognized show to misbehave (although I suppose it almost paid for itself with my 5% discount at SmartPak).

Whoops, meant USDF. Still not able to edit.

You as well Auburn!!

I forgot that BN may need full membership next year. I usually don’t compete a horse recognized until they are going Novice, so that is a bit off my radar.

the OWNER does not need any membership until the horse gets to Prelim.

The USEA has a very useful chart showing the membership requirements at various levels.
