Hi, hum I mean ENDURANCE stallion
Looking for recomendation for an Arabian stud to produce good endurance horses. Which ones have a track record of producing good endurance horses? What lines should I be looking at.

You can go the race horse route and choose something big and Russian or French like the stallions as Asgard http://www.asgardarabians.com/

I would go the French/Russian route and and breed my Abu Farwa mare to Stratagem at Asgards, or Aul Magic http://legendaryarabians.com/magic.htm but I do dressage as well so great gaits are important to me.

David Ward of Fairview Stud recently had to downsize his herd due to the loss of a long term lease on pasture (the landowner no longer wanted horses on the land-only cattle). There was no suitable property available for 90+ horses so there was a major dispersal a few months ago.
Aul Magic had major colic surgery last summer and is no longer standing at stud though there is frozen semen available.
Peter Mileo has a stallion, Magic Aulrab, (bred by the same breeder as Aul Magic) that has competed in distance events.

I am familiar with the above breeders because I also breed CMK Arabians, but as Eddy’s Mom pointed out the French racing lines as well as many of the Polish and Russian lines are also particularly well known as endurance producing lines.

I have a 4yo grey mare who just had rather sudden surgery for an aggressive melanoma between her thighs, behind her udder. With her age, size of tumor and location, my vet told me I probably wouldn’t have her as long as I planned as this indicated she would eventually develop the internal type. If I were to breed her, do it in the next five years and to a bay to try to head off another horse prone to this. I don’t care about color, but greys do attract me.
She is Polish/Crabbet through her sire, with Bask, Naborr, Lewisfield lines, Ferzon and 43 crosses to Skowronek. Her dam is pretty straight Egyptian, with Nabiel, I. Imdal, quite a bit of Nazeer, and a touch of Babson.
I thought some day I might breed her to Sanskrit or an *Origan son I can’t remember the name of (there’s been a picture of him doing endurance, he’s Polish and grey too). I love Peter Mileo’s stallion but not sure he’s quite right for this mare. I found Galaxy I (though he has a son doing endurance, I like him but love his dad) and loved him but his owner isn’t doing AI, and Tuhotmos son, Klassic El Sareei and he isn’t either.
I want a compact horse, size doesn’t matter as I’m pretty short. Of course, great movement, deep body though not too wide, great hindend and I like a big eye just for me. I’d like to avoid The Desperado breeding, just not a fan.
Again, I love greys but need to find a bay as there has been a study they are least likely to pass on genes for melanoma. (dominant agouti). I’m in central Ky, looking for TS and a reasonable stud fee so I can swing the vet and fed ex and other fees.

Take a serious look at LS Zane Grey +// , not even sure if he’s still breeding though. He has a super record, and producer SOUND offspring with incredible minds. I rode that stallion several years ago, and he has a very good temperament himself. A real athlete. From what I’ve seen, he very consistently produces offspring with good temperaments, good movement, and tremendous athletic ability. He has three huge gaits. He has an Anglo Arab daughter doing very well in Dressage (PSG?). I’ve considered him many times for my Arabian mare. I had looked at purchasing a mare by him several years ago, but unfortunately that fell through, no fault of the horse.

I was very impressed with the filly from last year and this year’s filly is a gorgeous mover. They have good brains and are people oriented beside being bred to race and do endurance. don’t let still photos of young Arabs fool you. They often looked puny or just so so until you see them move.

I honestly don’t what his get are doing, but I’m a huge fan of Envoy BBF, in TX. He’s done sport horse, hunters, and endurance. I almost bred by polish mare to him a few years ago. He also races. He stands at Spirit of Texas Arabians.
Yes! Envoy is the *Origan son I was thinking of! Think I spelled his sire’s name right…
The Shagya Arabian stallion is a perfect cross
on purebred Arabian mares! The French have several winning endurance lines,

I am new to this forum. But not new to distance riding. If you are looking to breed a high level endurance competitor then breed to a Shagya stallion. Of the two horses representing the USA at the President’s Cup 100 mile race in Dubai last week, SA Belshazzar has a Shagya sire,out of an arab mare. Zar’s first 100 mile race, done in 9 hrs and 16 min in his second yr of endurance competition. Sir Smith(ox) and he were the first to finish of the foreign competitors. 2006 the World endurance race in Germany was won by a Shagya.

Have you heard of the Hungarian Arabian bred horses called Shagya? The have all the qualifications for superior endurance mounts. Tevis winners, WEG winners The American Shagya Arabian Verband has a teriffic breeding opportunity to many of their member stallions.
