Equestrian Court of Grammatical Peeves

It was the address the candidate used for our business address LOL. I kid you not. I could tell by the format and text it was something off some career website.

This is actually pretty common. I’ve seen it several times this year. The applicant is using an online template, and forgets to either fill out, or to save (or properly save) all the changes. I’m not sure how that’s possible but it happens more often than it should.

I read a lot of resumes every year, and want to give a class. I’m talking educated applicants - master’s degrees or better for most of them. I’d say only about 1/3 of the resumes meet my expectations of clear, accurate and free from error.

And, no one writes cover letters anymore. Because it’s just too much work, I guess. I don’t get it - it’s your chance to give a writing sample! Maybe they are all bad writers, and know it.

In the current recruitment market, I got over it. But when we had more applicants for every position than we needed - we used that as a screening method. No cover letter - swipe right. (LOL. or left. Whichever means delete.)

I think every Jr or Sr high schooler and on should be required to take a resume writing class. There are a lot of doosies out there.
