Equestrian themed baby names?

OP, if you have twins, have you considered Martin and Gale?

I’m all for naming after famous ponies as well! Great suggestions, I really like Crosby and Chase - not obviously horsey to most, but most horse folk would certainly see a connection. I’m not sure where the name Hack came from, but the guy I work with is in his mid-forties and it’s not a nickname (I asked!)
Thanks all! Keep them coming!

Maybe?

Just did through old names: Epona being a Celtic Goddess, men fighting on horseback, there are plenty of horse references in names of old.

My sister’s name was Sigrid: The Victorious Rider (or so it was translated back in the day)

This is for a human baby, right? What if he/she grows up to not have any interest in horses? Is there a name in the family with a horsey theme you could use for double the reason.

My trainer named her son after the farrier

Kopertox

Not only is it horsey, but you get the trendy, chic thing as well with the K instead of the C

Is there something we need to know?

Reina

I really like the suggestion Roan. I might have to remember that one

I like simply…

Dun

I could see calling him Dunny and I mean, come on…that’s awesome

Oh and CONGRATS mama!!

There’s also Rhiannon (Welsh goddess of horses).

I like Devon too. My pregnant COTHer friend can’t come to Devon with me this year as she’s due right then. I told her she would be obligated to name the baby Devon

My daughter’s name is Morgane because it was the name DH and I agreed on, from the list we had.
At the time, I actually owned a Morgan mare, but I never even thought of that. I was just looking for a name that would be pronounced the same in my 2 languages. Then a horsey friend of mine visited me in the hospital and pointed it out. She really thought I had done it on purpose. For me, Morgan/e means “from the seaside”, which is fitting since she was born in a coastal town.

Quentin for a boy… After Quentin the horseshow that takes place in Quentin, PA (which as we know was named after Teddy Roosevelt’s son, Quentin, who was killed in WW1).

That was my grandfather’s name. My cousin just named her daughter after him.

“Hack” (N): A worn-out horse for hire; a jade.

a. One who undertakes unpleasant or distasteful tasks for money or reward; a hireling.

Not exactly positive connotations.

I’ve seen Hunter for a boy’s name quite frequently.[/QUOTE]

She said she was kidding. She’s not going to name her child Hack or Hoofpick. Geez.

Dehner, Dubarry or Dubarrie, Grey, Welsh,Prix

Rhiannon also works if you happen to be a Fleetwood Mac fan, too. I don’t really have any suggestions, but others have come up with some good ones. I went to hs with a boy named Colt, and as far as I know, neither he nor his parents were horse people. So it doesn’t really matter if the kid grows up to be horsey or not. Just don’t name the poor child Apple or Carrot or anything like that.

I knew someone named Tack.

And I had a farrier named Hack!

Also, here is an old similar thread: http://www.chronofhorse.com/forum/showthread.php?343133-Horse-related-(human)-baby-names

Please, please don’t name your child “Prix”. The teasing will be merciless as soon as soon as some other kid tries a phonetic pronounciation.
