Equestrian Vacations?

Hi all.

Does anyone know of a legitimate company that does equestrian vacation packages? I’ve searched a bit through the archives here and noticed that Cross Country International went under in a fairly ugly way many years ago.

I’ve done some web searching and came up with “equestrianvacations.com”, but I’m not quite sure it’s legit. Does anyone have any feedback on this site/organization, or know of any others?

I would love to do a beach ride themed “take myself on vacation” for my birthday next year. The ride in Costa Rica that I see on the website looks great. However, my spidey sense makes me wonder if I’d end up losing my money, or being lost in Costa Rica with no where to go.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Try equitours.com or equitrekking.com I know people who have booked through both.

We are leaving on Saturday for Spain, we are spending the week trail riding and taking dressage lessons on Andalusians!

We booked our trip directly with the riding center and saved a few dollars over the cost of going through a travel agent like equitours. We did look at online reviews before we booked, and so far everything we’ve seen has been positive. I guess we’ll find out in a few short days if we made a good choice!

our horses lounge around enough without me sending them on a vacation

We went to the Dominican Republic on a holiday and I ended up find a very nice with well cared for horses place to ride when we got there. Rode 4 times in 9 days. The lady that owned the place was from Canada, all her horses where well looked after.

There is Cooper’s Hill Livery in Ireland that does beach rides. Not a warm enjoy the sun place but still is beach rides.

These are UK based but international customers are no problem and I have used them several times

They know the rides, the horse care is always good and things like food and accommodation are considered to be important as well

Willamette Coast Ride in Oregon! Run by Justin and Lindley Leahy. Justin is the son of Willie Leahy who is famous in Ireland for his pony treks. Justin and Lindley lead fantastic trips combining vineyard, coastal mountains and beach riding. Lots of trotting and cantering, a little jumping if you like, superb wine and food… it was a trip of a lifetime that I will do again!

I went on a self-guided 5 day ride in Wales at Freerein two summers ago with a couple of friends and would highly recommend them! The horses were awesome, lots of opportunity to trot and canter. They also do guided tours too, but it was nice to go at our own pace.

I did several rides through Fits Equestrian who was bought out by Equitours and I’ve done a few through them, all great. Hidden Trails is another company, but I haven’t done any through them.

love riding holidays!
