If youāre importing to the US by sea, suggest having it painted as the corrosion on the sea journey even if sealed in a container probably makes it worth being protected by paint.
Interesting point worth thinking about.
ETA: Horsebox sides are generally GRP so shouldnāt suffer salt corrosion, the truck cab will probably already be painted white, and the chassis powder coated, that would leave just the aluminium / stainless steel bits in the construction. Iād therefore change my recommendation to - get expert advice!
i would want the one with the double axel under the box. And, iād want it EV. Wonder when that will happen?
I am in the market. Did you get it? Do you love it?
I was facing this decision last year and as my daily driver is a small but mighty SWB 4 x 4 with a big engine and a 3.5 ton towing capacity I decided to go for a trailer, mainly so I didnāt have all the extra costs of another vehicle - tax, insurance MOT etc.
I went for the Equitrek Night Trekka so I have many of the benefits of a lorry - separate tack lockers, horse shower and a living with hob, running water, storage and a storable table & double bunk bedā¦.still just about enough room to swing a cat, but only just lol!
Iām out every week in it, so have picked up the manoeuvring / reversing pretty well and I have to reverse it round a corner and down a narrow drive with a kink in it to park it, which after a LOT of cursing I can do OK now.
Weāve got a Dodge Ram as well and I can tell you I could never tow with it- itās so long and unwieldy!! I honestly donāt know how you chaps in the USA do it - but I guess our narrow winding lanes over here are a big change from the straighter roads you have!
I am still waiting thanks to supply issues. The ford factory is so behind in getting orders fulfilled.
Ouch!!! Well I hope you get it soon. Going to test drive an STX next week.
t.stat, where are you test driving the STX? Let us know what you think of it!
At their farm in Wellington. It was so awesome!!!
So a little updateā¦over a year from my order and I still do not have the van. L&D Trailers continue to say they cannot get a chassis and they are working on it. I have to continually ask for updates. Today my post on their social media pages prompted them to call me and offer a Mercedes chassis for twice the cost.
I was told they have others orders using the Ford chassis. Anyone on this forum order from them?
I contacted the Ford dealership they are using to order my chassis. Iām waiting for an update from the contact.
A friend of mine is the Canadian dealer for these and they have been waiting forever to get one due to the same issues. They are hoping it will happen this summer.
The weird thing is I found so many Ford dealers with 2023 chassises on their lots.
oh goshā¦iād be impatient too! We recently had to buy a used F250 because we were told there was a 12-30 month wait for a new one with exactly what-all we wanted.
